#55 light bulb

After installing a burned out #55 light bulb for my amp light. I have since learned there are at least three differnt #55 bulbs, maybe more, 3 amp,4 amp,and 5 amp #55 bulbs. Which is the correct bulb for the amp light in a 52 Hornet? The one I installed is the 5 amp bulb. In the Mechanical Procedure Manual I only saw a listing for a #55 bulb but no amp rating.

Any help will be appreciated. I'd like to have the right bulb in there.

    Thanks, Lee O'Dell

I think someone was pulling your leg on that. The #55 lamp is the #55 lamp as far as I know,

3,4, or 5 are all way too high for the indicator lamp. You need a 6 watt bulb, which is only one amp. However, for a better alternative, fit a super-bright L.E.D. You can easily make this up to take place of the bulb. Solder a small 75 ohm resistor in series with the L.E.D. insulate it, connect the wires from the original bulb, and poke it into the bulb socket. Takes only 8/100th of an amp, and is at it says, is "super bright". You can only connect these one way round, so find out which way makes it work. If you are original 6 vol positive ground, then the cathode goes to the live side and the anode to the generator.

We are okay, as are 200 miles North of epicentre, but the city of Christchurch is largely destroyed, with many fatalities. Haven't been able to contact any of our H.E.T. members yet, as lines overloaded.
