In need of 308 Pieces

Hi Guys,
I've been absent on the forum for a few years, I'm just getting done with college and finally have the time to commit to working on the Hudsons again.
I tore down the 308 in my Hornet, (been sitting for at least 40 years if not more), I found that it has the hydraulic lifters in it and one of them is broken, luckily no damage to the cam. The timing chain is very sloppy, and of course when I took the valves out 3+ years ago the keepers decided they were going to hide on me...
Does any one out there have extra keepers, and perhaps a hydraulic lifter (or a set of solid lifters) they would be willing to sell??

Aaron--I have new lifters and used lifters for sale and I can come up with some keepers. Also have true roller timing chains.

Whoa! Is your 308 a '56? Only '56 engines came with hydraulic lifters. The '56 cam, a so-called long dwell revision of the original '54 7X flat top, was designed to work with these lifters. Solids may or may not be compatible. Don't know for sure, but I've seen elsewhere that they are. The '56 "long dwell" has .366 lift and 260 deg. duration. I have it in my '56 powered "54 Hudson and I like it. The original '54 "742" supposedly has .354 lift. Randy makes a '56 mechanical version, right? If you go with the hydraulics, be sure they are clean as a whistle and you can clearly hear the check ball rattling around when you shake the lifter (dry). If the check ball is sticky, you will definitely hear it after installed. Also make sure the upper contact surface (cap) is not excessively worn. I installed mine with a little oil around the plunger. Get a '56 mechanical manual, it explains how to clean and install hydraulics. The hydraulic lifters used by Hudson may or may not be exactly the same as the original '51-53 Chrysler 331 hemi Continental design. These were typically replaced by later barrel style and the original style is very hard to find (I've only found one). The Cadillac '36?-48 322 falthead versions are larger and will not fit.
