    Hello
    I am a younger HET member that has been with the club since late 08. I belong to the Southern California HET chapter as well as the Kansas Wichita HET chapter. I am currently going to the Mcpherson College Auto Restoration Program in Kansas. I am planning on attending the San Mateo Nationals as a graduation gift to myself in a 52 Pacemaker 4dr sedan that I have just purchased. I am aware that these are very rare. I could only count 14 1952 Pacemakers in the current roster. The car arrives this weekend, and as far as I know all it needs is wiring, final assembly, and upholstery. Does anybody have suggestions on where to get the correct fabric? Also pictures of these cars are very scarce on the web, can anyone help. Anything is appreciated though I desperately need interior shots, and detail shots during assembly. I will post new pictures of the car when it arrives ether Saturday or Sunday.

    Welcome to the Forum!

    In regards to the fabric, have you tried sending a swatch to SMS for possible matching. They do have some exact matches for certain Hudson models back into the 1940's. http://www.smsautofabrics.com/

    Brandon. I too want to welcome you to the HET club. My first car was a 51 Pacemaker 4 door, this was in 1957. I have a 52 Pacemaker 2 door in my garage and if my daughter in law would show me how to post pictures on this electronic gadget I would take some pictures and post them. She lives along way from me and will be visiting in Oct. Will take some pictures at that time and post.

    Wow thanks for the feedback guys. Thanks for the suggestion Jon, once the car arrives I will send a sample of my fabric to SMS. Also do you own that handsome 37 Terra convertable brougham. I have been dreaming for a long time of owning a 37 Terraplane coupe model 71 or 72. I will have to wait untill after college though. In addition I would love to see pics of the 52 2 door, is it a club coupe or a brougham?

    Brandon, You've already received the correct and best advice. Finish college first, and use SMS to help find a good upholstery match. They could not get a perfect match for my 50 Pacemaker Deluxe (first year for Pacemaker Stepdown), but it was close. The major difference was there were no fabrics with the bright turquoise blue color in it that matched the blue spruce knobs. The 1950 Pacemaker was also different since it was the only Hudson ever to have the fabric dash design. Since your car is a 52, I imagine those fabrics are a little closer to what the senior Hudsons used in 51/52. I attached pictures of the fabric in my car, which was obtained from SMS, and is actually material that was correct for a Cadillac of similar vintage. Note that there is a vinyl material for the seats as well. The standard Pacemakers were pretty much all vinyl.

    I had a 52 Hornet and could not find original material. Had a local shop reproduce some original for a project they were doing. However, the cost of doing a new material is unrealistic high. Most shops can find a vinal that is real close if not exact. The vinal that went along with my Hornet (trim and backseat caps plus door kicks)ran about $12 per yard whereas the cloth ran about 100 bucks more than that. If vinal is an option consider it. Love the color of your Hudson. That "Root Beer" and tan is one of my favorites. Welcome to our group and a great looking car. And, yes, do finish college!!!

    Beautiful looking interior and car DocHubler. It is interesting that a Cadillac fabric is that close to the correct pattern. Thanks for the pics! I have one year to go here at college and I love it. I can’t think of another college that the curriculum completely surrounds the auto restoration industry. I have completed my AA back home and I am wrapping up my baccalaureate out here.

    Welcome aboard Brandon. Wasn't long ago I was a younger member 2 years out of High school and the owner of a '51 Pacemaker. I now own a '50 and have owned other short wheelbase Hudsons. Bottom line, you're in the right place for any questions you have putting it together or taking things apart.....ask often you will get a response if you can't find answers you're looking for in the back-chat. Also I would recommend getting some books on Hudson's and doing your homework. Lots to learn, lots of fun to had.

    Brandon, I say welcome as well! Glad to hear you are going to a quality school that gives proper instruction on automotive stuff and I'm sure there are motivated students taking the class with you. This will last a lifetime.

    Great to hear from you too Lee. I looked into the online library; great info on there, thanks for the tip Alex. Also thanks for the comments on the car. Love pacemakers I stumbled on this car by accident while looking at a 51 2dr Brougham that I was strongly considering. Though this car was just too good to pass up. The car arrives this Sunday, so I will have new pictures and some questions. I will keep you guys posted.

    Brandon, Welcome. You will find a lot of help, assistance, guidance, instruction, etc....here on the Forum and from members in the club that are not on the Forums. I know from experience when I took ownership & possession of our '50 Pacemaker Deluxe.
