Passing of Bob "Hudson Bob" Witte
-
I just got an email from Nell Owen with the following sad news:
On Saturday, September 1 Bobbie "Hudson Bob" Witte or the "car washer" known to many throughout the Club passed away at the age of 53. Bobbie was the son of Bob and Dolores Witte--long-long time HETers and husband of Debra.
Many HET'ers had their cars washed at National meets by Bob - it was how he paid his way to the meets. I remember one National, and I'm going out on a limb and say it was the Waterbury, CT, meet the hotel wouldn't let him do his thing. In order to get money to get home he was selling parts off his car and other stuff he had with him. I gave him $25 for an old black and white TV that really didn't work, but it didn't matter. One of our HET people needed help and a people stepped up to help him.
He will be missed but remembered a long time.

Had another memory of Bob. It was at the 2009 International - I'm not sure but I don't think he'd been married long. I met him coming out the door of the hotel, sports jacket and tie, his wife on his arm - and he had the biggest smile on his face. It was obvious he was very proud of his wife.
