Retired but not tired

Today was the first day in my 42 years of funeral service to several communities that I did not have to worry about the phones. Felt strange. Only time will tell me if I made the right decision to hang my top hat up. My plans are to build a new shop and take on more hudson work and parts. This time there will be a lift. Not bad going down under a car but getting up takes some energy. My phone number will change. My cell is 309-267-6158. Mark that in your roster if you want. Will get my number changed on the 21st century hudson web page also, or call Russ and he will get ahold of me to call you back. Anyway, looking forward to working on more hudsons, building stock, super stock and race engines . Always enjoyed pouring and boring babbit rod bearings and mains. Also plan on helping Russ with some convertible projects. I think I can keep busy.

Congratulations! Your go forward plans will be a great benefit for Hudson's... Change is always apprehensive, but you will be fine. Soon you may wonder how you ever got anything done while working your primary job. Good Luck on your new venture.....

Randy, best of luck to you and your retirement. I did the same thing after 44 years of employment. Still have to get the lift, but maybe this summer. I took on a major build of a car that was completely disassembled. It was a fun project and I had a wonderful year after I started the project. I have built three car since then and I am having a ball. Enjoy the process and I have to say that I have never looked back. Retirement is great...Hope you have a car ready for the National in California next summer. Cannot wait to see your work--keep with us and post a lot of photos....Brownie

Yes Randy you wont look back for took long. You will find you can be as busy as you want. Or dont want depending on the day . You will have the time to chase down the parts you want but allways missed out on when someone got there first.
And I find that even though I make half the money I did when working. I have more spending money than I used to. You spend so much on gas ,food ,sodas ,coffee's ,vending machines and such just "Going to work" that it all works out.
