Muffler Location
-
Where is the muffler located on a 52 hornet sedan. Thanks JOHN
-
drivergo2, HI I HAVE A 52 HORNET SEDAN AND MUFFLER IS AHEAD OF REAR END PASS. SIDE
-
I replaced the original system. The 52-54 hornets had the muffler under the rear passenger seat, as Hudnut 52 said, and also a resonator( small aux muffler) was under the passenger front foot well. If you can locate or borrow a illustration from the master parts catalog, for the 7B.7C & 7D, it is shown there.

Well here we go on the continuing adventures of the 52 hornet and the guy who love it. While scraping the mud loose on the underside to pull the pan. there is a muffler next to the trans.Huh?? What they did was the flange was broken off at the neck so they got another pipe with a muffler on it ,wired it up to the flange from the manifold to have enough length they used the muffler.I have to learn to post pictures, some of this is to good. Iam not knocking them ,They made something out of what they had to get by. JOHN

There's a copy of the 1948-1954 Master Parts Catalog in the online library at:
http://hetclub.org/burr/lithomepage.htm
You may experience difficulty opening the manual with Firefox - it doesn't like the size of the manual. IE works just find. You'll find the manual in the 1948-1954 section under "Manuals" - you can type in exhaust system to search for it - the exhaust system section is Section O
(Caution - the first diagram is 1948-1951).

That was probably the auxilary muffler( or what the then owner installed) It is about the size of two coffee cans together. As Alex said the view in the manual gives a good look at the system. Kepich exhaust sells the original entire system, or did a few years back.
