'38/'39 Hudson 112 Glovebox Door Springs -
-
Have been looking for these for quite some time (along with a good glovebox door), finally got them with a '38 Glovebox Door bought from Chuck V. (Thanks again Chuck!) -
Does anyone know if these glovebox door springs are compatible with any other years?
Possibly 1937, 1940, 1941, 1942? Will they only fit the 112 model, or will they work with the other series as well?
-
Do you have the 1939 part number, Rick? Those of us with other years of Hudson could then confirm whether or not the part number matches the one for our years.
-
Hi Jon,
Wasn't able to find it in the 'Master Body Group Parts Book, 1930-1939',
Think I found it in the 'Hudson Master Chassis Group Parts Book, 1930-1939'.
(page 454)
Locker Box Door Hinge Spring
BO 121078 (right)
BO 121079 (left)
From the manual, it fits 37-38 Hud Terr, 90, 91, 92, 98
Since the manual only goes thru '39, guess we need to look elswhere for other years.
Looks like these are the same springs as are in your '37 Jon - ;-) -
The parts interchange manual says 37-38 All 90,91,92,98
And this should go through 1927-1950 -
Krille - Thank you. I looked in Alex's online interchange manual, but couldn't find those part numbers. Essentially, it looks like it says the same thing as the 'Hudson Master Chassis Group Parts Book, 1930-1939'. So, it looks like they were used 1937-1939.
Coming next (I'll probably start a new thread) - Is there any or enough demand for these springs to warrant having them reproduced?
From my email exchanges with Bruce Wylie, he indicates that he has yet to even come close to 'breaking even' in his reproduction of the '36 glove box door springs had made and that he sells. That, in and of itself, is a primary concern/consideration... -
Are the 36 springs a "one year only" production?
Do the 37-39 springs cover the Terraplane as well? If so, and with the 37 year being one of Hudson's higher production years, I would guess that demand would be much higher than the 36 year.
?? -
Kdancy - Yes, the '36 springs appear to be 'one year only'. Bruce can confirm that;
According to the manual, the springs are for all '37-'38 Hudson & Terraplane, and '39 Hudson 90,91,92 and 98.
My initial thoughts as well - demand should be much greater than that of the '36 springs. However, I have yet to actually see any glovebox doors or the subject springs, other than those for my '39 112 pickup - which actually has a '38 112 dashboard and glovebox door.
