I've been trouble getting here this morning. If it's under construction could someone let us know, so we'll know the problem isn't in our computers? Thanks!

I have to sign in every time now, like when this new forum started. Why do things have to change all the time? :-O

Why do the problems only effect a few members? So far mine has not changed.

Hi All, yes, there was a revised website (not forum) launched yesterday which may have cause a few interruptions to service (I was advised that it wouldn't) but that wont see any changes here in the forum hence the lack of notice.

If you had bookmarked anything other than www.classiccar.com/forum then it makes sense to change it to this address as this is the non-changing address for the forum - and has been since X months back when we did the 'big' change.

If you end up at the homepage there is an obvious link to 'forum' at the top in the black bar.

If you are seeing other issues, try clearing your cookies, updating your bookmark and then you can email me direct at bf@ (the website address) if it persists.

Friday is never a good day to make a site change from experience but as i'm in the forum now replying i'm to assume all is fine.

The print on the cover page when I log in is fine.

On Internet Explorer, look in the lower-right corner. You will see a percentage (100%, 125%, etc..). Click the down-arrow next to that, and you can adjust the size of the overall view...

Mine is set to 150% right now...

This is all easily fixable so no need to be concerned that it will be ongoing. I can't reproduce the small font issue here but will be able to from the office on Monday, I will then demonstrate to the developers and they will fix it.

As for ending up in the Street Rods sub category of Hudson, I think that could have been a miss-click and I can't reproduce it and that category is right next to the Hudson link?

Let me know if that happens again please Alex.

Thanks Ben, but I still wind up with Discussion > Hudson > Street Rod when I (carefully) click on Hudson. Clicking on the back button in my tool bar brings me to the Hudson forum.

    Hello All,

My name is Rachael and I work for ClassicCar.com. I'm just letting you know that we're doing our best to solve your problems behind the scenes with the developers. Please be patient with us as we work on sorting out any issues with the website. We've been listening to your feedback on the website design and as you may have noticed the whole website (apart from forum) has undergone significant changes over the last few days. We're aiming to bring you the smoothest, fastest and easiest website we can, and we'd love to hear your feedback to make it even better. We will be increasing the font size in the forum within the next few days, we apologise for any drop in text size during this time of website upgrade.

Thank you all for your patience!

    Kind regards,
    Rachael

Watching carefully as I signed in to the Hudson forum I noticed that when I put the mouse pointer on Hudson the Street Rod Button goes gray - the Hudson button doesn't. Looks like that's the problem.

    Hi Alex,

Ben and I have both tried re-creating your problem here but we are not finding the error. Please would you be able to tell me what internet browser you are using, and if you click the about in the top menu it should also tell you the version number of the browser. We will be able to do some more testing to try and solve this for you then.

Thanks so much and sorry for the inconvenience!

Morning Rachael - I'm using Firefox 12. I've discovered if I put the mouse pointer over the arrow in front of "hudson" then it takes me to the Hudson forum. We'll live with it. I've had problems with Firefox 12 - tho most of the time it works just fine - the main being they forced the upgrade on me (and everybody else).
    Weird, ain't it.
Just checked and I don't have the overlap problem with IE, can't remember which version, think it's IE*, I'm using there tho.

Not complaining, just wanted to report that I still have to sign in to post, on the Forum (as of 8-14-12). I'm using Firefox version 14, I think.

To clarify: I have to sign in each time I open up the Forum for the first time, not every time I need to post. If I delete the Forum and then later follow my link back to it, I must once again sign in. I only have to write my username, the password is already filled out.

I'm also using Firefox 14.0.1 but I do not have to log on each time to post. Now that the font size revision has happened everything seems normal (including the peculiarities when trying to upload files - both jpg & pdf formats)

Dear Alex : I have reported your problem to the developers and they will be looking at it over the coming days as we aim to be compatible with all possible ways of viewing our website. Aside from this have you considered upgrading to the latest version of firefox at all? Here is a good article (a short one) to read about the reasons why upgrading your browser are important if you are interested. I thought it was very interesting and liked the analogy about the car "Browsers are like cars – they need to be looked after and eventually need to be replaced." :) I know they like to push updates on people and I myself find it annoying when I turn my machine on and all of a sudden get loading bars (uugh). But I promise it will be a better user experience, not only for our website but the whole web. Well thats my two cents - we're doing the best we can to fix the Firefox 12 anomaly though! Here is the article link if you're interested in a 2 minute read:
    http://www.thirtyseven.com.au/blog/why-should-i-upgrade-my-browser/

Dear Jon B : I will discuss with Ben what has happened here and see if we can find the problem in the coming days.

Dear Dave: Thanks for your feedback! I'm glad everything is working well for you. :)

    Have a nice day everyone!
    Rachael.

Rachel, I'll get around to upgrading to FF 14 one of these days. I'm still unhappy with the Fire Fox people for automatically upgrading my system to V 12. One of the problems I have with it when accessing my bank web site a bar comes up that says "won't allow" with a button at the end that when clicked gives me the page I want. A minor annoyance, true but an annoyance none the less.
I also had a spyware program that worked great, but not with FF 12 - some sort of cat fight between FireFox and, was it Norton. I've forgotten now.
I still wish to have the option of choosing what is on my computer. Most of the programs I work with in my document scanning for the Hudson club online library are older programs, ie Adobe Acrobat 5, PagePlus 8, Netscape composer, but they work for me and I'm comfortable with them. I don't have the expertise to upgrade these programs to newer ones that might, or might not, work with the documents I have hundreds of.

I have internet explorer. What happened? Now when I click the return arrow after reading a post the program will not return back to the unread posts like it used too. I hope you can fix it. Thanks.

    ALEX:

You Always have the option to select the Upgrades that your computer installs.
You need to get someone to assist you in adjusting your SETTINGS and Preferences so that
you are informed when an update is available and giving you the option of weather or not
    you want to install it.

I do NOT allow automatic Updates and it has saved me countless headaches over the years.

    REGARDS,

    TOM
