My father has recently aquired a 1970 American Motors Ambassador sedan and he is looking to sell it but does not know where to start on an asking price. Im pretty sure it has been painted once recently and the body is in fairly decent shape aside from a little rust around the rear quarter on the drivers side. It has 76,000 miles on it and the interior is mostly intact aside from a few pieces of broken trim and the torn bench seats. Can someone please tell me what a car of this make and year could be worth??

First of all, the car is not a Ford Ambassador. It was made by American Motors (AMC) not Ford. So, in looking up blue book value you want to be sure to get the right manufacturer.

To the right you will see a list of the different forums at this website. Click on the American Motors one and post the car there, not in the Ford section.

This will be worth more as a collector car than as a "used car" so you should check places like Ebay and Hemmings.com (a collector car magazine and website where folks buy and sell older cars. You'll find Hemmings is arranged under ''cars for sale", then look under AMC for your car.

You may be able to advertise it in AMC collectors' websites or clubs. Its condition is certainly above average for its year but still, it is not a "hot" collectible so if you get $2-3,000 that would be good. Always ask for more, then advertise "or best offer".

When you're arrived at a price, you could advertise it at the AACA buy / sell forum at no cost. You just have to register (as you registered here). That is an even bigger website than this. There is also a "Nash / AMC" forum at the same site, and you could advertise it there as well.

- From the picture provided, yours looks to be a 1970 American Motors Ambassador 360 SST. Can't tell what else it has (AC, 4-speed, etc...).

From the looks of it (average car, for its age), the value is between $2,000-$3,500 (depending on other options that the car has). As with most, the 4-door is somewhat less desireable than the 2-door version, the 360 V8 is a plus (emblem on front fender), as is the SST option (shown on rear pillar of car).
