what happened to the thread about the meet in french lick?
-
not to long ago there was a thread about the french lick national meet. It was about the cost of the rooms. I posted that I live not far from there and maybe people could stay in our town or louisville ky.

I don't recall whether there was a discussion entitled "French Lick" but there WAS a discussion on the cost of motels, which had a lot of posts about French Lick. It's here: http://www.classiccar.com/forum/discussion/160962/hotel-costs-for-meets#Item_19

Another option is just north of Louisville at Scottsburg, IN. Exit 29 on I-65. This is the connection point to State Road 56, 52 miles east of French Lick. About an hours drive. Super-8 Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn & Suites and Best Western are represented there.

I can appprciate the need to economise. I know my money is tight. I hope I will be able to afford trip to French Lick. After a 2100 mile one way cruise to the national I will prefer a room at host hotel rather than adding another five days of 25 to 100 mile round trips a day from distance hotel. At 15 MPG the gas cost would eat up most of the room savings. Besides, I would miss the opportunity for a last minute midnight walk around to look at all the beautiful cars again before heading off to Hudson dream land just a short walk away.
As far as weather, it will always be unpredictable. Okla was hot, A/C didn't work, 6,000 mile round trip but I loved every minute of the whole experience. Great people, great cars. Sorry I could not make 2012 meet. Hope to see you all at 2013 National. I have enjoyed every National I could make it to.

I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating. The search on this forum, as it currently stands, is not much chop. However, there is a very effective way to find anything that has ever been said on the forum. Here's how - I'll use French Lick (which I remember was one of the schools that Hickory High School beat in the film "Hoosiers") as an example.
Go to Google, and in the search box, type this:
site:classiccar.com French Lick
Substitute 'French Lick' for the search term of your choice, and you'll find a good set of results based on that search term.

I found a Comfort Inn about a mile and a half from the host hotel. Rates $105 but there is an Advanced Purchase Rate of $89. Remains to be seen if this will still be available in 2014.

I only mentioned Scottsburg, IN because that is where my Pacemaker lived from Date of Purchase until I took possession in 2006. My In-Laws still live there.
