An upcoming forum farewell
-
Ladies and gentlemen,
I thought I'd write and let you know that this is my last week at ClassicCar, making it also my last week looking after the Forums here. I had already let the Forum moderators know, but thought it best also to say a proper goodbye out here in the open.
The simple matter is that my contract is up, and I am looking at other opportunities, either closer to home (it's been close to a 200 kilometre / 124 mile round trip to the office each day), or even going back down south to my old hometown of Sydney. I'm up to 2nd and 3rd interviews for 4 roles, so things are looking good. I also have my own consumer electronics website to look after, and I expect to be soon starting up another website of my own, in the area of sports technology (I did my first marathon last month, and the idea of combining my love and knowledge of the worlds of gadgets and sports is appealing), which will be a .com website, written with a US and world readership in mind, rather than mainly Australian.
I'd like to say thank you all for your support during my stewardship, and hope to hear that the forum continues its growth and level of engagement. And keep those Hudsons going! I loved seeing all the pictures of the wonderful old cars at your just-held National Meet. Hudson wasn't a marque I knew much about, and first came to know more through research after watching Pixar's "Cars" - a film my 5-year-old son has watched so very many times - and then through daily reading of all the discussions on this forum.
So I have five more days here, and then in the interim Ben Flux will be the ClassicCar contact for Forum matters. Again, I hope to hear tell of a lively, growing Forum in the future, with all things Hudson and more discussed in a lively, knowledgeable, helpful and respectful manner. -
Thanks for your patience as you dragged us kicking & screaming into the "new" forum.
Good luck with your new ventures!!

Hope you come back for a visit sometime!

You are a man of amazing patience....Hard enuf to get a buncha old coots to change our depends let alone make major changes with a new forum format..
Good luck in the future and come visit us in the States someday.....I hear that the exchange rate is now in YOUR favor
TOM -
Scott - hope everything works out for you, as you want it to. Be sure to stay in touch, and let us know what you're doing - it's got to be interesting!
-
Very nice of you all, and yes, I'll pop in from time to time, and see what y'all are up to.
If you're interested in seeing my own site, it's http://techstyles.com.au - the sports tech one, I'm in the middle of planning, and writing some initial articles.
@ESSX28-1 You're entirely welcome... and thanks. I know it was a bit of a grindy gear change, but I hope the new forum becomes second nature to you all.
@Nevada Hudson Will do!
@TOM-WA- No worries. And yes, no more is the Aussie Dollar the South Pacific Peso. Thankfully we have a hell of a lot of stuff in the ground we can dig up and sell, and that we had some distance from the ongoing hell that is the GFC! I'm well overdue for a tour of the US. Last time there I covered a lot of ground heading around all points west and middle on the Greyhound Bus network.
@46HudsonPU Will do Rick, and thanks for your help with the transition. Ben and I really appreciated it! -
Good luck for the future Scott.
I'm sure this Forum was a challenge in many ways but you persevered and it is now looking good.
I'm sure that many opportunities will come your way! -
Scott, if in Sydney Australia look us up at
Hudson-amc.org.au
And many thanks for your help in setting this page up for us.much appreciated. Thanks mate.
Les P. Down Under. -
@Huddy42 Will do Les, and thanks for your kind words.
I'm from Sydney originally (Balmain, Gladesville, Camperdown, Woollahra to name a few suburbs I've lived in), I only moved up here to the Gold Coast in January 2010. -
Scott, thanks for helping us "transition over" to the new format, and to the new ownership of Classiccar. You went beyond merely facilitating things...you took an active interest in what we do. Best of luck!
-
Best of luck, mate. Be talkin' soon.Ron
-
@Jon B No worries Jon, and thanks also for your help. As for old cars, they always has been an interest, and honestly, the vast majority of modern cars cannot on any level, other than perhaps safety, compete with classics. I have my favourites of course, but I have enjoyed immensely getting some schooling on all things Hudson.
@Rons Thanks mate!
-
Thank you for your patience putting up with my uninformed opinions on the changes at this site. You acted nothing but professionally, when it would have been easy to attack back.
Good luck, Cheers,
Todd -
Yes, thanks, goodluck and all the best.
-
Scotty, you are a man of rare talent. All to many people working with this this bunch of hard headed "traditionlists" (ie, we liked it the way it was - but you taught us to change) would have run screaming into the woods!!!! Your patience with us will become legend - all your help is greatly appreciated, more than you will ever know.
Thanks for everything - yes, you will be missed.
Hudsonly,
