Does any one know how many 2 door 1957 windsor's were built? I have a two door windsor and the ID tag indicates it was ordered with custom paint and beige interior. It has the flight sweep side trip, single head light and was originaly painted desert beige top and side copper metallic brown. I have just removed the tail light to reveal the original colours which confirm the ID tag is correct. How many were ordered with custom paint?

Just over 14,000 Windsor two door hardtops were built in 1957. Very few would have been ordered with non-standard paint options but there is no way of finding that number without going over the microfiche of '57 Windsor production looking at each car's paint codes and Chrysler Historical is not going to do those many hours of research. The dual (2 total) head lights were an early production factor for cars delivered to states which had not approved federal law permitting installation of quad lamps (4 total). I would recommend getting the $45 decode done by Historical as documentation of your car and perhaps it will turn up other interesting facts.
These are very pretty cars and yours would be striking in that color combination.

i have decoded the ID tag, it was ordered with power brakes, rear window defrost, radio, heater, power streering, auto trans, beige trim, flight sweep trim, tinted glass, and two tone custom colour. I love the fins and lines on these vehicles cant wait to have both my 300C and windsor restored and parked up together.
Is the documented decoding done through the Chrysler historical section?
