Searching for grilleplates for 1939 serie 92
-
Kristoffer,
The grill pieces are very hard to find. I have seen only one pair for sale in the last 20 yrs, and they were expensive. I have a model 92 also and have repaired mine. Good luck with your search.

They are made or unobtainium. I did have a pair I sold last year on eBay. They were frail and one was broken but all the pieces were there and they still brought over $200.
I heard that one fellow had some laser cut. -
Val; do you have a blueprint or similar to take to a machinist for making? I think if they are machined out of aluminium, it would be easy to get them original looking. And then it would be cheapest to get a few made while the machine is programmed. A workshop with a cnc machine or similar would have no problem at all to be making them if there is a god cad drawing to use. But for that a good drawing with the measurements or one grillepiece to take measurements from.

If the measurements are accurate, the results are good, and the price is reasonable - there should be more than a few folks looking for quality reproductions of these side grilles.
-
Has anyone done any investigation on getting the grills cut out of plate aluninum with high pressure water jet cutting?
I got these badges cut out of 1/4" alum.(5"x4") Cost was $15ea for 100pcs.
The machine this guy had would cut up to 2" steel.
The only problem would be to bend to the contour of the fender.

Krille,
The guy making my grills used a cast to make the shape and get the correct curves. He is making them with aluminum. I can ask for measurements if you like. Or see if he would be willing to make you a pair while he is doing mine. Not sure what he would charge you. But you may be better waiting to see that mine fit correctly first.
