Well it finally happened. I have needed to replace the front brake cylinders on my Commodore for the last couple of years. So I went to my local NAPA store where I get the majority of my parts and picked them up. I got home and looked at the box and sure enough they are now made in China! Pretty soon you probably can by the whole car from there.

You can purchase a complete Chinese built Hudson Hornet in 1/18 scale (and many other scales as well!).

Actually the Chinese can make whatever you want, at whatever quality level you specify. For example as far as Hi-Fi stereo gear goes, they're at the top of the tree: http://www.opera-consonance.com/ I'm looking to buy one of their valve amplifiers. For the fantastic quality and performance, the price is very, very good.

Just to clarify.." Valves" to us yanks are vacume tubes. That is the generation I grew up in. My Hudson radio has great tone compared to the modern AM/FM/CD player'

I do get aggravated by having to go to my metric wrenches to work on a US car.

You will find that the chinese made wheel cylinders , although they use the 5/16-24 bolts to hold them to the backing plate, they often need a 9mm wrench for the bleed screws! 3/8" is too loose and will round the corners. Some of the chinese wheel cylinder castings were not machined enough for the 5/16"-24 bolt heads to clear, or to even get a socket or wrench on the bolts to tighten. I had these issues with them.

Super Dave to reiterate your comment on metric tools- I went back to "school" to catch up and first order of business was to buy a set of metrics, had no idea that a 13 =1/2"

Been driving my '28 Essex for 56 years and never had trouble with the water pump.
