I am looking for all the missing Drivmaster parts to put my 49 Commodore 8 back to original. Any help would be appreciated. I just aquirred Herb Bell's 49 convertible and was surprised to see it originaly had DM. It appears that the car has escaped any other modifications from original and I want to keep it that way. Engine brackets and shift linkage are still there and I think it's just missing thre acuators etc. I guess you could say "I like a challange". I did have the oportunity to drive a pre war hudson with DM and it was really slick! Even if mine doesn't work, I would want to make it appear to be functional.
Also I would like to see pictures of the setup and any tech info on maintenance.
    Thanks, Davew

Dave, there is a Drive-Master Service Information Manual in the online library. It's filed under "Other Hudson - Essex - Terraplane Literature". The online library is at:

Wish we lived closer, Dave. I had always wanted to get that "Daisy Car" DM system working when I was helping Herbert keep the cars in good shape, but never got around to it before we moved to SC. Darn!

    Park,
They only want $40 K for the Miss Daisy car. Considering the provenance.. I think it would be an investment. It should be competitive in AACA too. Not to mention a profit might be made at a BJ auction (heaven forbid!)
You say the convertible DM was there before? I wonder who and why it was removed? I was promised a small maintenance record from Savannah. Perhaps that will shed some light. I put it on the lift and see that it has all new wheel cylinders and lines. Looks like the master cylinder was rebuilt as well.
Transmission and OD were almost empty. A bad leak from the top cover area while running. Trans. filler plug was finger tight. Someone was in there and likely left the cover gasket off. I wonder why. Transmission and OD work flawlessly and quiet..The clutch chatters.. fluid was black and stinks..and if another change of fluid doesn't cure it, I'll have plenty of access to the tranny cover LOL.. Still. what a grand car...

Dave, I boo-boo'd in my earlirer note ... it was the Daisy car that still has most or all the DM system there. Sorry 'bout that, but delighted you got the convertible! And again, if you don't get a detailed list of what was done recently on the car, let me know and I'll put you in touch with the person who did the work.

Dave- Remember the guy who posted under the name Rambo's Ride? Rambo is his black Lab dog, and he used that picture as his avatar. Do a shout out to him- I helped him take the front clip off a '50, and it had a complete Drivemaster that he was going to remove. I think he sold the car, and don't know if the Drivemaster went with it. He's not on here much anymore, but I think he still looks once in awhile, and would respond if he saw the Rambo name on a post.

I may have mis-spoken, because I see another post talking about a Supermatic on a '50. Rambo's Ride's car had some kind of vacuum assisted shifter, don't know whether it was a Drivemaster or Supermatic. It just looked complicated!

    Dave,
Ed Faust in Boliver, NY may have Drive Master parts. His 50 C6 is equiped with Supermatic Drive and the last I knew it was working.

Thanks for all the help so far..Well It's not installed....yet. I have two sets ..Thanks to some really generous Hudson guys! I have two setups. Both are from a Six. I still need the mounting brackets to adapt them to the 8 cyl block. A picture of a DM on a stepdown 8 would be nice too!

I have '49 commodore 8 also and would like to get the drivemaster feature working. I have a 6 cyl. unit in a box. If the bracket needs modifications, a pattern or description would be appreciated. Dave: Keep me posted on your progress.
    Thanks
