As some of you know, I have been looking for a convertible for a long time. Lots to choose from, but value verses price eliminated most. I got extremely lucky when park connected me with the seller of the late Herb Bells's collection. Herb was a living Hudson legend and lived in Gainsville Georgia. The strange twist of fate.... I had admired Herbs 49 Commodore eight convertible since I saw it in a magazine in about 1976-77. In 76-77, I was finishing up a restoration of a 49 commodore 8 Convertible and I used the pictures of Herb's as a guide to finish mine. A divorce was on the horizon, so i sold mine to finance the divorce and put a down payment on some empty property. I never forgot Herb's convertible. Several years ago, Park set up a meeting with Herb and I to aquire some parts for a friends Super six. I got to see his collection in person. There sat the convertible next to Miss Daisy! Herb wasn't interested in selling and to tell the truth I couldn't afford it!. Park comes back into the picture again when he announced Herb's passing. I asked Park if they were selling the collection. He put me in touch and I bought it. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine I would have that car. Her name is Ruby, It's a family Joke. My Model A ford is named Sapphire, so they are now room mates..
What was the ex's name that I divorced? "Ruby" of course! Thanks Park, for a memorable journey.
Here are a few pics. not a perfect car, but oh how much fun she is gonna be.

Wow! And in another thread, you were talking about a..''project''! Not exactly the kind of ''project'' I was thinking of... Congrats! Very nice looking car! Michel
And thanks for the tip: First: A divorce, Second: An empty property Third: A Hudson Convertible! Good news: I completed steps one and two last seven years. Now...

Thanks, It's not perfect, but nice enough to not have to make excuses for. Some serious paint issues in the lower fenders and doors, a chattering clutch and a very leaky transmission need attention. Then a new top. I sure am going to miss all the stuff I had on my Super.
The empty property was used to build our retirement home....and large garage! All of this took between 30-40 years! Of course finding a new wife and partner in life a couple years after the divorce made it all possible. Having the right woman is essential! Of course luck has some bearing.
