Attended a auction yesterday were 2 -51 Hudson Hornet convertables and a57 and 58 Ford retractable were sold. All were in very good condition. The Hudsons sold for about 33 percent more than the Fords. This is in Ford and Gov. Motors Country. One local HET member made the comment"I guess Doc Hudson didnt hurt us very Much" LOL

How much did the convertibles sell for?

Maroon '51 convertible with a '56 twin h engine sold for $40k to an oline bidder in NY. Same NY bidder bought the blue '51 convertible with a '53 engine I think for $36k. I was outbid on both, but would have liked to have the maroon one... Bad timing for me, but $40k was my limit. Both looked good from auctioneer description, but was told they were good drivers, not perfect though. Des Moines HET president went to inspect them I was told. Anyway, I lost out at Mecum in Little Rock for the '52 last week, and again yesterday online for the ones in Ames.... Oh well, someday I will get a Hudson...

Well, they are holding their on but not really going up in value in this economy. It would take much more then that to do a real restoration on one in decent shape. That 52 Hollywood looked like a really nice car.

I could have told you the prices but, thought it was not my job because I didnt bid and didnt want to offend anyone that did.

I attended the auction last week in Arkansas, but tried online this week for the one in Ames. Yes, the '52 in Little Rock through Mecum from the Salmon Bros was very nice. It was not concours perfect, but looked great. I expected it it be in the $25-30k range, but Mecum brings out all kinds, and many cars sold at inflated prices in my opinion. '46 Hudson pickup at $22k was beautiful though. But $42.5 plus a 10% buyers premium and then shipping would have put the '52 near $48k... More than I was willing to pay... Oh well... And the convertibles at auction yesterday in Ames were probably worth more than they sold for (even without matching numbers), but I couldn't exceed my $40k budget on the maroon one, or $35k interest in the blue one. Someone in NY got a decent deal I think.
