Nice use of the tilt shift effect in that photo!
-
What is "tilt shift effect"? How is it done? The photo result sure highlights the cars.
-
It's an effect that you can apply with some cameras, or some iPhone/smartphone apps (Instagram for example), whereby two things are made to happen. The effect is essentially a faked approximation of a true tilt shift lens. What the apps/cameras do is:
1. Either the top and the bottom of the image, or in a circular fashion around the centre of the image, is made blurry, and;
2. In the part of the image that has not been blurred, the colour is saturated, or 'turned up'.
It creates a 'toy-like', or diorama effect. There's more explanation, and a few examples, at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miniature_faking (link will open in a new window)
As I said, smartphones, some compact digital cameras, some mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, and some digital SLR cameras provide this effect as an option. -
While we are on th subject, how do you resize the photo to fit the page?Brownie
-
@Browniepetersen You don't need to, the system places the images in a size that will fit the forum. But if you do have graphics software that you can use to size the images, the width that can be displayed is 800 pixels.
-
I use Photoshop too @DocHornet, but alas it's so damn expensive it's not software that everyone has access to.
