Hollander Classic Interchange Manual
-
I've just been watching the Jay Leno video about Hollander Manuals. I've never seen them over here in the United Kingdom.
Is it worth me getting one to help me find parts for my 1934 H8 ? -
Hollanders are very good. There are Hudson parts that will interchange with other makes, but not as extensive as other makes. For example a lot of Chevy parts will interchange with other makes - same for Ford. So, what it would be worth to you is up to you. Faxon has reprints - I found one on ebay 1920-1942 for $59. That's not a bad price - it appears that prices on Hollanders manuals have dropped some. At one time they were going for over $100. Go to ebay and search for hollanders interchange manuals.
One Hudson source for finding Hudson interchange parts is the 1927 to 1950 Hudson Numerical Parts Interchangeability Record - this book will tell you which Hudson parts are interchangeable with other Hudson parts. It is searchable. A copy is in the Hudson online library @ http://hetclub.org/burr/lithomepage.htm - click on "Other Hudson - Essex - Terraplane Literature".

Alex, The 1950 Hudson interchange manual is a great item BUT,unless you have the part number to that 1939 grill, good luck finding what will interchange with it as you need the grill part number to locate the part. No number-no luck. This was obviously for a Hudson parts counter man who had boxes with numbers on them but just needed to know what they may work with. The Hollander manual has a better layout for finding what major parts will interchange. I wish the Hudson interchange manual was laid out the same way. My 2 cents.

Hudzilla - you are correct. However, the manual I have in the online library is searchable. Granted you have to know the part you have, but if you are close, like "grille" you can find it with a little patience as searching for "grille" will start you at around 1931 or 1932. So you have to keep checking instances of "grille" until you find what you want.
(By the way searching for grille did take me, finally, to part numbers for 1939 cars - C 133650, Grille-Side-Radiator-RH, 91,92,93,95,97 - LH is one number higher.
Thanks for your reply to my post.
