Taking a break from the forum
-
I have been on this forum for many years and enjoyed the exchange of information and help during that time. However, today for the first time I had one of my post pulled due to a complaint I made about the way the revised system works.
Perhaps one day this forum will return to its old easy to use ways, but until that time I will seek out other ways to get my Hudson fix. Sorry to say good bye for now.
Hudsonly Yours,
Dan White -
Sorry to hear that Dan. I initially wasn't going to delete the thread, although I will say the issue you raised has been covered elsewhere, what you ask is not a simple cookie fix, and that something has been ticketed for the forum developers to attend to.
In the meantime we continue to see good activity, and a lot of discussion, so we think that the forum change has become less of a problem.
The main reason for the deletion of the thread was because of the input of the second participant, something that I have discussed with the forum moderators. -
I do not know the reasons behind this, but there has been a large amount of difficulty associated with the exchange of ownership of CLassic Car dot Com.
There is only one reason this Bbs exists click through reports that can be sold to advertisers. Hudson folk make up the bulk of those clicks. Advertisers who find that this group is now being subjected to the techno nonsense that is occuring will pull the plug.
This weekend I got asked at a HET Chapter meeting to start a HET chapter Yahoo group. I countered that the CCC forum was a better place. Boy was that a wrong statement.
Count me out as of now too.
As long as this stays posted those who care can contact me at Sanjuana@aol .com .

Well again Ken, there's plenty of HET people on the forum simply discussing HET, so it would seem that all is pretty well. Advertising? There's no advertising on the site at all.

Again, I would say: remember, we are paying nothing for the use of this forum nor does Classiccar now have any of the distracting ads that were posted in the old format. We do need to keep Classiccar aware of things that can be improved and I believe they are genuinely interested in improving the format (which doubtlessly came as a package when then bought the software). No doubt, this could be more user friendly with (for example) automatic sign-in as before, clearer identification of the particular forum to which one is tuned, and so forth. I'm not aware of the details of this particular case, so I don't mean to criticize either of the two gents who have complained above, it just seems to me that in general we have to keep criticism positive, helpful and constructive and to work with our hosts. Even though it may not work as smoothly as we'd like, at present this is the only Hudson forum in town.
