Gas tank for 54 Hudson Wasp

surprised there is not a drain plug on the bottom of the tank...hmmm...is yours equipped with a standby electric at the tank? you could pump the gas out or auto parts stores sell hand siphon pumps. when you do drain it..if by drain plug.. make sure you ground the car. a friend of mine had his aircraft burn up because the shop did not ground the plane and the fuel stream into the gas cans built up a static charge and the thing torched off..lost that plane a few others..the hangar and the shop hangar.

Hi, Tom. Not aware of any other tank that will work- tanks are a common problem, and with the tendency that Hudson guys have of finding crossover stuff, I'm sure it would be common knowledge if there was one. Glenn Johnson in Utah used to restore them, but I don't believe he is doing it anymore.
As far as draining, if there's no drain plug, I've always just removed the gasline at the bottom and drained into a bucket. Disconnect battery and ground the car first, of course. Removal of the tank should be obvious- held on by straps, like most tanks, I think.
Now, for the coincidence- I had to sign in to make this post, and the thing signs you in to the "All discussions" board. The first post on it is about a guy who will make stainless tank for $200. That sounds like a deal.
