Hi everyone newbe here. I'm trying to restore a 1935 Chevy 1.5 ton. looking through my friends junk pile came across a 1936 hudson 3speed. I never seen a small tranny like this. thought it be fun to get it to work again and show young people something cool. after about a month of patience it is working again. it's not perfect missing two needles and two or three balls and the spring for the reverse pin. i have the bellhousing but no top plate & shifter. got to wondering if it has any money value? There was the engine there in the dirt with no head a six clyinder. Thanks Danny

It is not particularly rare (in the Hudson world of course!) and my guess is that it might bring $50-75 in good shape...especially if you could find the shift lever and top plate. I assume it does not have the "Electric Hand" vacuum shifter mechanism attached to it (that would give it a bit more value).

Sounds like a parts gearbox. Anyone wanting parts would be interested in the gears if the teeth are in good condition. But then there are a lot of NOS gears available reasonable cheap. Hope someone can check it and the motor out before it is scrapped. Good luck, Barry

    Danny,
As Jon indicates, the 30's 3-speed transmission is not particularly rare, and neither is the 40's 3-speed trans. If it would be an O/D model, that would be a whole other story...

In my collection of parts-n-pieces, have at least one 'spare' shifter with the top plate for the 30's series 3-speed transmission(s). It would be the 'floor shift' type (no shift knob, long since gone).

When I get a chance, I'll take a picture and post it.

If you live in Southern Arizona Al Saffrahn would likely take it off your hands for a few dollars. It's not worth shipping unless someone was desperate for the parts. :|

Thanks for the input on the tranny. i'm going back to his place soon to buy a munice 4 speed i'll ask how much for the engine. maybe get a photo of it. i live in northeast New Mexico. He like me don't particularly like seeing our history goin to the scrapyard so i think the engine will be there if any one should need it. interesting automobile the Hudson. Thanks again Danny

I have heaps and heaps of NOS gears to suit early Hudson /Terraplane, which in time will end up going for scrap metal as nobody seems to want.Have some stepdown gears as well.
