Okay, I have finally found my way back in to the new forum, but how do I get around not having to sign in each time I connect? I can't find a "Keep me signed in" box anywhere.

It may be that now everytime we post a comment we have to sign in just like I had to do for this comment.

about half the time i check this site from work, so i have to sign out every timei'm done. one thing i really like about this site is it doesn't kick me out if i get busy and can do anything for a few minutes. lots of other sites log me out if you don't click something every five minutes. but i can make several comments without having to log back in.

I can't see the point of this new format. In every way it is inferior to the old system. I think it is dreadful, something like a school kid and an under-achieving one at that, would create.

Anyone know why this is happening? As my kids would say; "retarded".

The old system seems like a huge step forward from where this is right now.

I agree. I have probably 10 or so automotive related forums in my favorites that I visit regularly, and this is the most primitive of the bunch.

  • Lol. I just kinda sighed and gave up. The management tells me I'm the only one with complaints. I guess I just expected more from anything that attaches the "Hudson" tag...slim

Both the look and the functionality of the site are way inferior to what it was before.

I concur completely, now visit less, and post considerably less often.
Seems to me these web designers have to change stuff just to justify their jobs as they certainly haven't improved this site or others I use/used with their "makeovers".
Have tried to upload photos 3-4 times, nada.

@oldhudsons Can I ask what is going wrong with the posting of images? Have you read the tutorial I wrote on the topic? I think having read it you'll have no issues. You'll find it at the following link: How to insert an image within your discussions

@denverslim2_archived Did we not go out of our way help you with all the issues you were having? Is there something still going wrong?

@terraplane8 Can I ask what your constructive criticisms would be? We've a place for this at Forum suggestions/feature requests

I vote to go back to the old "unimproved" format.

Many of us, Hudson owners and interested bystanders, are middle aged or beyond-some, like me, way beyond. We are for the most part conservative and don't easily embrace change without an immediately apparent benefit. I liked and understood the old format. I checked daily, sometimes hourly for topics and updates. The new format puts me off. I don't recognize the colors or the style, I'm not yet so familiar with the site that I can navigate easily and quickly, and I now visit less often. There are other venues that still have the familiar look and comfortable feel that I prefer. Some parts of the site are very nice, the cars for sale feature is great, but this is not the Hudson forum I originally joined, and I don't think I'm ready to fall in love again.

@51c8Joe "Not yet familiar." But the old site was once new too, and I'd like to think that giving the refresh time to sink in you'll find it become more natural. Ben, the developers and I have gone to some lengths to fix issues and take on your feedback.
  • Well boys, I guess if I had to try to run a site like this it would be even a bigger mess. I'm really, really, good at some things but managing a classic car forum aint one of em. I'm a heck of a lot more comfortable moving around the garage, trouble shooting problems with my old cars, getting them up and going and I live by the rules that "if it aint broke, don't fix it" and "if your gonna take the time to do something, do it once, do it right or don't bother doing it at all". Guess some of us are a bit particular and I'll be willing to bet that Hudson owners/fans are most particular.
I've learned to really like the guys that have frequented the old forum much like the guys that visit my garage. Most of us have other jobs or projects that inhibit us from doing the homework that you'd like us to do regarding reading all the damn tutorials and directions. Sorry, we just shake our heads and move on. I aint too keen on changing my computer to accomadate this format either. Seems to work well elsewhere. You are going to have to look somewhere besides me for suggestions on what will work, I just know that this one is one p.i.t.a. Seems like you are all too quick to shoot the messenger.
If emailing me and asking for what makes my computer tick constitutes "going out of our way" then yes you did that. You told me you could find no problems. You could not replacate the situation. I still can't figure out how to post a photo, you've change my username from denverslim to denverslim2 to get me on the forum, then back to denverslim once again, now it seems to have defaulted to denverslim2archived, I've had to change my password several times, and I still have problems with the page jumping out of my computer screen.

I aways considered the Hudson forum like it was a bunch of us sitting around a garage after work, maybe sipping on a beer, yaking about our cars, sometimes arguing and embellishing, sometimes apoligizing for what we did or said but always drawn back together by what we appreciate--Hudsons, Essexs and Terraplanes. We truly have some real treasures here in Hudson guys. I've learned a lot about my car for sure, but probably more importantly, I've learned a lot about the history--racing, manufacturing, selling, a real sense of PRIDE that doesn't come from other American automobiles. Sadly, it seems like it's getting to be too much work to stay in touch.

Ok, I've had my say, I've spent wayyy to much time on this computer today, I'm done. Hope I didn't step too hard on any toes...slim

PS. I notice that when I type in Hudsons, Essexs, Terraplanes, all three words are underlined in red--like the computer doesn't recognize these words. Might be something to look into --at least on this forum.

You're being signed in as @denverslim2_archived because you are logging in using your work email address - one you told us you rarely use, so we changed the username to @denverslim2_archived to separate it from your preferred email address, yet keep the posts in case there was something you wanted there. So could you please try logging in using your non-work email address.

Denverslim is attached to your other email address, and that is where all of your forum activity has been historically. The squiggly red lines - that's the spellchecker on your browser.
  • Scott, it ASKS me for my email address to log on! I don't get it.
And why is this the only place ever on my computer that the squiggly red lines show up.
    Sorry for being so dumb!...slim

Keith, I can't say what they are out here in the open, but I just used your denverslim login details, and logged in successfully as denverslim. I can private message them to you, or, you could find the email that Ben sent you on April 16, with your login name and password for the denverslim account.

The squiggly red lines - is there an option, if you right-click on them, to have them ignored from any spellchecking?
  • Scott, pls pm the info to me. If I can figure out how to find a pm, I will utilize this info...slim
  • Scott, it goes something like this. I try using denverslim as a username as you suggest. The password is another thing, to be completely honest I have gone through so many of them in the last couple of weeks or so, I don't know if I'm a Terraplane or a Brewster, so I click on to "I forgot my password". I fill out the appropriate email address, fill in the blank with all the gobley-gook and it tells me to check my email for a new password. I go to my email and click onto the required link, and a Classiccar page comes up with NO OPTION FOR PASSWORD IMPUT. This is the same problem that I told you about some two weeks ago when you gave me a new user name.
    I gotta go to bed...slim

@denverslim2_archived - I PM'd your logins for your denverslim account. Used them this morning, without issue. Again, Ben emailed these logins to you on April 16.
