I thought you guys might be interested in seeing some of the photos I took this week at the Mooresville NC "Memory Lane" automotive museum.

I am a catastrophy property claims adjuster, and I've been in the Charlotte / Raleigh NC area for the past month working tornado and hail storm claims.

I had a bit of time one afternoon, and took a long lunch at the Mooresville NC museum.

Ah yes the famous 49 Super Six Hornet. The guy at the museum knows about this but dosen't care.

AH, just like my very first car except mine was gray. Years from now if the world is still here, visitors will claim I saw a 49 Super Six Hornet. Oh well at least the museum did something. Through the years I have had people say that their dad owned a 48 or 50 Hornet. I used to say they didnt make one until 51 and they look at me like what do you know about it. it was my dad that owned it. Oh well, such is life. lol

Nice pictures of a classic. I assume the engine would be a 262 retrofited with a twin-H setup. It would have been great to see more of the interior, the rear seat area (without a seat) and any other modifications. It appears there's a roll bar in there. I've always been curious about when roll bars were put in Hudsons, I've seen a few '54 cars (pictures) that had a roll bar.

I would say this is a "re-creation" [ as Barrett- Jackson ] guys on TV says.. I doubt if Tim Flock ever even saw this car. He would have had a real 51-53 Hornet, not a 49 super six.

If they had put Fonty Flock's name on the car it would be more realistic. In 1949 Fonty drove a 49 Hudson at Charlotte and finished second.

Tim as far as I can find out was driving a 49 Oldsmobile in 1949 season. In the 1950-51 seasons, Tim drove Lincoln, Ply, and Oldsmobiles. It wasn't until Nov 1951 that he started driving Hudson Hornets. The rest is history.

I've seen actual cars that M.Teague, Herb Thomas, & Tim Flock actually drove in the races and they ran with full interiors and no roll cages at that time. After all, these guys drove the cars to the tracks, taped the headlights and then put them out on the tracks. Most did not even use seat belts at that time.

I attended a benefit for "old" NASCAR people at the Musuem a few months ago. Believe I posted a couple pictures of Tim" son Carl with this car and maybe one of Mrs Tim Flock. At the time I asked her about this particular car. As I recall she said "it was a piece of junk that was found somewhere in Kansas". If you want to see a car that Tim Flock drove there is one on display at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte. By the way, I have been told that Tim has a pretty good shot at induction into the Hall this year. Keep your fingers crossed. It would be really nice for this to happen while Mrs Flock is still around to enjoy the honor.
