Spell Check?
-
Wow. One of the cool new features is that we now have spellcheck. No more excuses for us!!
-
That will help me out. Provided spell check can figure out what I am trying to say... Ok, I give up, where is the spell check icon?Brownie
-
Try mis-spelling a word in your post. A red squiggly line will appear underneath the mis-spelled word. Right click on the squiggly line and you will get a choice of words to use that represent the correct spelling.
-
I have autocorrect setup in my browser and its working here now. Which is sweet.www.hudsonmotorcar.org
-
OK, let me give her a try and spe if it works. Funnty thingm, there are no red squiggly lines. Do I have to turn something on?Brownie
-
Maybe Sean has it right. You have to have it set up on your browser . . . I'm not tech-savvy enough to know if that's how it works.
-

here is what it looks like when your spell check works. Also on your browser menu look for "Spelling and Grammar" you can choose "correct as I type"

Depends on what browser you are using. It will be a menu option. In Safari its under edit menu. In Firefox its under preferences and the advanced tab. In Chrome its under edit menu. I do not know where it is in Internet Explorer.www.hudsonmotorcar.org

Information on Spell Check with different internet browsers -
http://8help.osu.edu/2143.html
Current versions of both Firefox and Safari have spell checking features.
Apparently, there is no 'spell check' feature that comes with MS Internet Explorer, although an aftermarket or add-on 'spell checker' can be installed. There is talk of Spell Checker being a part of IE 10, but that is pure speculation until it is released...
Here is a link to 'spell check' add-ons for IE:
http://www.iegallery.com/en-US/Search?q=spell
As with anything from Microsoft, they complicate it - making it much harder than if it were simply an add-on. Here are the MS instructions for 'Accelerators', which is where the spell-check is added-on in Internet Explorer:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-to-use-Accelerators-in-Internet-Explorer-9
Essentially -
Right-click within the body of IE (anywhere there isn't a box or window);
Click on 'All Accelerators' then 'Find More Accelerators';
In the search box (top right) type 'spell', and click the search button;
This will show you a couple of different 'spell check' add-ons ('Accelerators') for IE - essentially, the link provided just above these instructions. -
That explains the spellcheck I have: I use Mozilla Firefox. Supposedly, more tamper proof than IE. Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but I've had zero problems with the new forum, as well.
-
I still use a dictionary.
-
I went on the link page and went through the four pages of accelerators and could not find one for spell check. I added one for dictionary but it does not seem to work?Brownie

I see two here (from my post, above). There is even a 'button' "Add to Internet Explorer" on the webpage -

My spelling is normally fine. It's the typing that gets me. I leave out (or reverse) letters.... What I need is voicetype. Is there such a thing?
-
The "Dragon NaturallySpeaking" software program gets better each release. I've tested it in the past, and it does pretty well.
-
Thanks, I'm going to hunt one up !
-
Could not find a spell check cause I'm french speaking usually and my computer has a
french spell check, meaning that all the words I write are underlined in red. If I look at the words suggested, they are all french ones... The best way I found to improve my english is reading your comments on the forum. So, if you use your spellcheck, it will help me a lot! Thank you all! Michel
