New Here With 1956 Plymouth Belvedere
-
Hello just joined here,i recently picked up a 1956 plymouth belvedere 2dr no post it has the auto 2spd with a 277 v8 engine. Its decent shape for a north east car some rust but nothing major that i can fix. The only prob im having now is a tree fell on the rear roof when last owner had it. Which broke the rear window so he got one from a 55 belvedere 4dr but its not in it so idk if it will fit coming from a 4dr. Anyways plans are to get it in good running driving condition. get lights ect working and drive it while i work on it till one day ill have enough money to have it painted. Ive currently got it to fire and with some gas through carb it fired up, just rebuilt my carb today so hopefully that will keep her running.

Congratulations on your find and good luck with it. I think you've found a great car there. My second car, bought back in 1964, was a 1956 Plymouth Savoy 4-door sedan with the 277 and a 3-speed transmission. I absolutely loved the car, even as a 4-door. I drove it for about 2 years and sold it when I entered the service. The car gave me absolutely no poblems during that time and was totally unreal as far as its performance. The 277 is not necessaryily a big engine at all, it had a 2-barrel carb, the 3-speed and single exhaust but the thing would absolutely fly!! I never lost a race with it. If I had known I would be stationed only about 80 miles from home when I got out of basic training, I would have kept it. Again, congratulations and good luck.

Nice car!
There are a number of forums that deal with the 50's Mopar so you will have plenty of support.
