1940 Hudson Restore or keep original?
-
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I have an original 1940 Hudson 2 D sedan in very good shape. I am looking for advice on whether to keep the car original or repaint it, have the interior redone and rechrome the trim.
I have been told that I should keep the car original because it will be worth more someday. I would love to see the car repainted etc.
What do you hudsonites think?
Regards,
Marvin -
Marvin,
You might want to post your question in the Hudson Forum where more folks will see it.

The first thing to consider is that "a car is only original once"!
Second. It is a whole lot less expensive ($$$) to keep it original.
Third. How much are you willing to spend to have the car look the way you would like to see it? How much of the work will you able to do yourself or with the help of friends? If you paint the car, will you be comfortable knowing that the new paint might be chipped while out cruising?
Not knowing how long you have owned the car, my suggestion would be to drive it as it is and enjoy it!!!

Kevin,
Thank you for your advice. I will not be able to do much of the work myself so I ver well might keep it the way it is.

Marvin,
Even though there may be a difference of opinion about what to do with your car, there is one thing that Hudson folks on the forum unanimously agree on and that is we would love to see pictures of your car!
Please post them on the Hudson Forum!
Thanks,

Kevin,
I would love to post pictures but I have not figured out how to do that. As soon as I know how I will post photos.
Thanks,
Marvin -
If you would ask me, the grey color is boring. There's nothing wrong in repainting that 1940 Hudson. In fact, I kinda like the Red color.

I agree the Grey is boring. I would like to repaint it correctly with one of the 1940 Hudson colors. I f I do I will post pictures
