I just bought one from clifford performance seems like they will work pretty good even on a SWB car.

It kooks like hydraulic lifters would be a good idea.
Not a lot of room to adjust the valves.
looks like a good fit and quality.

Schillaz, Does the #5 and #6 header ports line up with the block ports ? I had a set that would not line up and was hard to get over the 5-6 block studs. Thanks Rudy

This new style clifford header is a two piece header so #5 & #6 slip off the main part so it will line up perfectly. Once its bolted up and engine has been run the heat will swell that slip joint so then it will be one piece from then on out.

will find out how well it works hopefully in a month or two.

I've had mine on the engine for several months now and have run the engine many times. No persistent leaks and everything lined up fine. Unfortunately purchased and applied EASTON@ coating system and there is rust coming through already. Will try patch work until I take them off eventually for professional coating.

Can you sandblast and then powder coat them, with good long-term results?

The coating on my Ciffords has held up excellent in the going on 7 years I've had it and who knows how long for the PO(it wasn't a fresh build when I got it).Wish I could tell you for sure what it is.

I paid the extra to have mine Jet-Hot coated by Clifford from the git-go a dozen years ago. Well worth it... this pic was taken last spring. You can forget about trying to adjust the tappets hot, but you will feel the power difference.

On the subject of tappets... I've seen mentioned Mopar hydraulic lifters fit - could I get some specifics? A search didn't really provide much info. Will they work in the early blocks? Or just the later Hash blocks? Thanks.

As far as I know early Chrysler Continental hydraulic lifters (originally developed for their airplane engines) work in Hudsons. I know because I replaced a bad "Hudson" hydraulic with a Chrysler. I would think that the hydraulic setup will fit any Hudson "Big Block", the tappets are essentially the same as the solids. However, cam grind might be an issue and I would use the unique '56 309742 "hydraulic" grind only. Cleanliness is a problem with the continentals, I have one that is somewhat noisy at warm idle, probably not cleaned well enough, I hope with use the thing "clears" out. But no adjusting necessary!

Anyone know if there is a 6 - 1 header available. I don't really want dual exhaust with the issue of having to shoe horn two mufflers and extra tubing etc.
    Thought I would run maybe a 2 1/5" single

Photo on the previous page is a Clifford single outlet, with 2-1/2" pipe from there back. The pipe was a snap for my favorite custom shop to install. Alas it seems that demand for the single outlet was not enough for Clifford to continue production, so I believe they only offer the dual-outlet style now. If a single outlet piece is what you want, I guess your only options are to find someone to fab it for you, unless you can somehow find a used one. Might be worth an ad in the WTN.

Jet-Hot is a brand name for a silver colored porcelain coating that holds up well under the conditions endured by exhaust components.

It is NOT the same material as powder coating, although the application process may be similar. There are probably similar competitor's processes under a different name. I don't know how well it works on exhaust tubing that has been in service for awhile.

    Thanks so much Rudy.
