Starting problem
-
Anybody have this problem? 50 Nash Statesman .Car was running. Now starter engages. Wants to start, but once I let go of foot pedal on floor it won't stay running. Replaced coil, points and condenser, wires. Any ideas? Jim

Hi it sounds like there is no fire in the run position. run a hot wire from the batery to the hot side of the coil Then try it if it stays running then there is no fire comming from the ign. switch in the run side of the key Hudson Dave WWW.FatWhiteWalls.com:cheer:

Most 12 volt cars use an ignition resistor to the coil ,
but some 6 volt cars do also. This the symtom when the resistor goes open.
Check a wiring diagrahm.

I should have mentioned trying to hot wire it from battery to coil. Still won't start. Wondering if it might be the starter switch. ,if it allows voltage to coil when released. It was starting great. Only have wire diagram for ammbasador, not statesman. Will have to dig one up.
