Hudson Terraplane info required
-
Hi all,
A mate and myself are embarking on a project that is possibly beyond either of us, but together we hope to achieve, which is restoring/rebuilding/repairing (any other "re's" that may be necessary) a Hudson Terraplane 6.
First off, endless research has failed at working out what year the car actually is.
We believe it is a 37, but have been told everything from 34 thru to 39.
Short of pictures (always forget the camera), all I can tell you at the moment is it's a 4 door, rear suicide, right hand drive 6 cylinder.
The engine has cast on left side of block 61637, towards the rear on same side has cast 152500 with 1 H below it (1 is above the H) and stamped into the block near #5 cylinder (still l/h side) is 339559. The head has stamped 152527.
Does any of this assist anyone in identifying the engine year?
Where do we begin to look for the chassis number to work out what model/spec/year it could be?
Would be greatful for any information. -
you say it is right hand drive, what country are you in?

Three things:
1). From the serial number, your car is a 1936 Hudson Terraplane Deluxe model (the less expensive of the two models). Not only the rear doors, but the front doors as well should be "suicide", with the handle in the front. Should look like this:
2). You've posted this message in the "General" area of the Classiccar website. This is for Fords, Chevys, etc. You need to post it in the "Hudson" area, then you'll get a much better response. Click here: http://classiccar.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=showcat&catid=13&Itemid=129
3). If you're not already a member, you might consider joining either the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club (webpage: http://www.hetclub.org/ ) or any of the Hudson-related clubs in Australia, New Zealand, Sweden or elsewhere, if you're in those areas. -
Woops, thought I had posted this in the Hudson area. I'll put it there as well.
For Spencer, I'm in New Zealand (right hand drive country)
Jon B, only the rear doors are suicide, the fronts swing conventionally, hinged at the front. -
I misread your engine number as the serial number, so mis-identified your year. I'll continue this post down in the Hudson forum version of your message, so we don't encourage two separate "threads" on this subject!
