With the 481 model number it's a Super Six. Wouldn't be the first time somebody tricked a S6 out in Commodore trim options. Engine looks like a Chevy 6. But could be something else.

That is not a Chevy, for all Chevy sixes have the carb on the left side, driver, that is a Ford six. Walt.

Though Fords had a more rounded blue valve cover. Or maybe I'm thinking about Ford V-8's. But you're right about the carb setup.

It surely is a mess.. I have asked the seller if i can see the car. It should be no more than a half hour drive from here. Where do people get those production figures?B)

I just went on E-Bay and there is a far better deal I would say that won't last long. A lot of work has been done and, for what it has to be completed, all the new parts are already there. Take a look! I just taped my hand to my chair so as not to click on the "Buy it now" button...

I was right somewhere cause it's already gone. For now, we will be looking for the same Hudsons that come back every month or so... Michel.

    Did you go see it?

I saw your car (or one that sure looked a lot like it) going north on US1 just north of Grant around 6:00 so I figure you must have been heading home from checking it out.

    Hi Chris,
That was Me and Dave Sollon. Dave drove down from Cape Canaveral where they are vacationing. We hopped into our 49 "beater" and braved the rush hour traffic in down town Sebastion.
We checked it out. Dave said he might bid if it was closer to PA ! LOL Nice exterior sheet metal. The rest is very rusty. A project for an experienced welder with a lot of parts in the attic. (like Dave S.)The seller did a honest job in his description..I don't think I would live long enough to get it done.

Will we see you at the Winter Meet in Deland?

Car is restorable, but "not cheap or for the weak at heart". Needs outer frame rebuilt, new dash, front floor, most of top mechanism needs replaced or major repair. It is missing rear bumper and mounting brackets, hudson wheels and seller does not have them. He said he might have rocker panels and some of the chrome. We did not see seats and he is not sure what all he has for car, as he said he has a lot of parts in storage. It is already over 2000 and has not met reserve.

Don't know. That's the first weekend my parents will be down from Ohio. I think my father would be interested but I don't know if they'll be up for another drive so soon after getting here.

It finally met the reserve price of $5000 within the last 30 seconds and was sold at this price. A lot of work but, some guys can do a masterpiece with the talent that graces them. Hope it is one of them who bought it! It's not me for sure. Michel.

I was keeping an eye on this one. I believe if it was a Com., the 5k, while still a little steep, would be a little more reasonable. Like Dave said, it would behoove whomever gets this one (if they are thinking of restoring) to have a good cache of parts and a donor car or two on hand. The deep pockets goes without saying.

ANY '48 Hudson convertible is a rare bird. I finally got a ride in a '49CCV (Doug Wildrick's) and have had a smidgen of a want for one of the earlier step-down 'verts since then. It's funny how that same body style can have a completely different feel about it than say, a '52 Hornet. I wouldn't have thought that would be the case. If a '48 convertible is the one that keeps you awake at night, one can't be too choosy. They don't come along that often.

Of course, this comes from one who is not so bright . . . I spent 25K for two hunks of junk that was worse than this one put together. And, while I haven't hit the 6-figure mark yet, it's approaching fast and I am not yet into paint. It certainly pays to know what you're in for (before they take you away).

6 years on the restoration, 8 years off of my life and having all my hair turn gray because of it . . .

But if I just get to drive it one time. Just once. Once . . . I'll be good.
