1934 6-cyl block wanted
-
Wanted; non-cracked 1934 6-cyl engine block. Any for sale?
After a couple years of messing around and rebuilding a cracked block for the 34 Terraplane coupe; it has water in the oil after the first outing - so that was a bust.
Walt Mordenti's assessment is that they probably cracked the block again torquing it down. I now wish I had gone for rebuilding a 36 before we started this.
The rebuilders think it would be a waste to buy all the parts again for a 36 and think I should find another un-cracked 34 block and reuse the new parts.
I am in California, BTW. -
good luck in your search, i have 3 34-35 blocks and went to look at another low mileage one in denver..ALL are cracked. good luck..i think finding a '34-'35 block without cracks is like finding the easter bunny...it just doesn't exist. regards, tom

Boy, I remember when I got the car almost 40 years ago - and for some decades thereafter - 34 coupes used to be "a-dime-a-dozen" in the HET club and appeared regularly in WTN in pictures of every-other meet...where'd they all go? Has most everybody upgraded to 36 or newer engine or resto-mod'd? :S

What do you mean the Easter bunny doesn't exist?

Wait. What? No Easter bunny? NOT true,Kroger is already selling his chocolate/peanut butter eggs...
