Transmission help
-
Hey guys. Ive been workin with cars for a long time. But ive never really been a transmission/driveline guy. I took the gearbox cover off of a borgwarner super t-10 4 speed to check for metal shavings with a magnet. Nothing came up so i put it back together and in the car but now the positions for 1st and 2nd gear are switched as well as 3rd and 4th. What did i put in backwards?
Thanks -Casey -
Sounds like you flipped the levers over on the outside of the side cover. They should be pointing up, I believe. On vehicles with column shifters the levers point down, and with a floor shifter point up. Try flipping them 180 degrees and see if that works!

They're pointing up. it's a 68 firebird so i assume thats correct. I think i'll try pointing them down and see what happens. I probably shouldve taken a picture before taking it apart...but i did the swap from a th400 to the 4 speed myself and it worked fine for a while.
