The transmission is a hydramatic 3 speed with overdrive. I am unsure of an exact model number. Let me know if there is any way to get more information if you need it!

So someone fitted a later model GM transmission in the Hudson? What year car is is it from? Who makes the adapter?

To my knowledge the transmission is stock from the factory. It has 4 gears, so I had assumed the 4th was OD. I am probably wrong. I inhereted the car from my grandfather and have only had it for a year and a half. Most of that time it was in a shop waiting for parts.

For what its worth the car has "dual range hydramatic" emblazed on the gear position indicator.

Any help is much appreciated. Sorry if I misled anyone.

Aaron, that is a common misunderstanding for some who never drove a car with 4 speed hydro. The 4th gear of the 4 speed hydro is high gear, turning at the same speed as the engine less any slippage from the torque converter. Most automatics today have 4 speeds and the 4th is overdrive. Therfore most automatics today, but not all, are .70 to one. Trans output shaft turns less, .70 turns. to engines one turn

The old 4 speed hydro was one of the favoite transmissions to use in drag racing back in the 50's and 60's because of its near bullit proof performance.

I see you posted the car on Craigslist. Have you had success with that? I sell some cars, and don't use Craigslist. I had a buddy who posted there once, and swore he wouldn't do it again. How's your experience been?

I ca see how you might think that last shift was into an overdrive. The dual range unit is a desireable unit to have and as atated quite durable. Same one found in the Cadillac and some lincolns

Actually this is my first time trying to sell anything on craigslist. If you dont mind me asking, what problems did he run across?

Glad to hear the dual range tranny is a good one. Like I said in the ad, it shifts beautifully everytime. The first time I drove it through all 4 getting on the highway I had my fingers crossed and was very pleasantly suprised.

Well judging by what has hapened when I have listed a car on Craigs list. 7 out of 10 replies will be Nigerian scammers. They are easy to spot ,they use improper english . They ask non of the common things you would ask about when buying a car. They go right to telling you about how bad they need it and how important it is to get your bank info so they can send you the money.
Or they want to send you $3000.00 more than you want for one reason or another. And you cash the check and send them back the remainder.

Those Nigerians reminds me of an on-line dating experince I had over 10 years ago. I was using Match.com and a woman from Ukraine answered my personal expressing interest in a real, REAL long distance relationship. Then a few days later, the 9-11 attacks took place. All of a sudden, she wanted ME to send her some money so she could come to the U.S. and help with all the injuries from the attacks (said she was a nurse). And she told me this several times pleading with me that she really wants to help so send that money as soon as possible. Anyway, I figured her as a phoney from the start, but thought maybe I could have some fun and play with her like a struggling fish on a hook. So, I told her, "Yes, that sounds like a wonderful idea!". "But, I'll come over to Ukraine and bring you back with me." "Give me your address so I know where to go." Never heard from her after that.
