Wednesday, Nov.23rd,2011, Jim died in a Hospice facility in Melbourne, Fl. He won the Indy 500 in 1960. There is a nice article published in today's Friday Nov. 25,2011 "Florida Today" newapaper.
I am sure they have an "on line' version at www.floridatoday.com.

I knew Jim and I had him autograph one of those 1:18 diecasts of Dick's car. I donated it to the HETHS auction a couple of years ago. I believe Hanna Welzbacker has it now.

Anyway, he was the oldest living Indy winner. Now that honor (?) goes to Parnelli Jones.

As many of you know, the instruments from Dick Rathmann's #120 were mounted on the dash board of Walt's Chapman's '53 Hornet convertible. As the present "keeper" of this piece of Hudson history I thought that some would be interested in seeing a couple of photo's.
