This is a long shot but does anyone have a 6 volt alternator, in good shape, that they would like to sell. Need one for my 54 308.

    Thanks,

I assume you meant alternator versus generator that was stock on the car.
Here is one source to get a new 6V 60Amp alternator.

I'll check with my alternator-stater- generator guy today, but I think any repair shop that does alternators can make a 6volt one up a lot cheaper than 210.00.

The fifth avenue site, I believe also has a 6 volt conversion for do it yourselfers. Not hard to do and they give pretty good instructions.

Also Quick Start High Output sells a conversion kit, to change your alternator to 6 volt POS or NEG ground for around 40 bucks. Just google 6 volt alternators and it will give you several choices.

I got a GM 6 volt alternator, single wire $110.00 after fooling with a generator for about three years.
Got new cables, corroded from wet cell battery, and then got a 6 volt Optima.
What a difference in starting. Don't need to charge battery, even after letting sit for a week or so. Forgot and left the parking lights on for about a half hour one morning while at breakfast. Turned the key, and started right up. Next car will have the same setup.
