HUDSON--TRIMOTOR RADIATOR ORNAMENT

I've had this for over 40 years.I found the details on it in an original
"White Triangle News" from the hudson factory,but I have misplaced it.
It was an accessory for a 1929 Hudson and mounted on the radiator cap,
under a "Motor-Meter",even though the 1929 had a tenp gage.Its made of pot
metal and has had a rough live before I got it.I'm sure some model maker
can make a mold and recast this.I'm selling off my Hudson collection
and if someone is interested in this email me with an offer.

hmmm - the '29 Hudson did not have a hood ornament nor a Moto-Meter, just a thread on faceted pot metal "lid" which matched the hubcaps.
Also the dia. of the circle at the rear of this ornament doesn't appear to me to be big enough to go over the rad. filler on a '29.
Maybe is was for a '19 as I have or used to have all the original White Triangles for that period & don't recall see one of those. -
I have seen these used on the Ford Model A's such as this speedster a friend of mine has but I have never seen one with a Hudson Triangle...

The info I got for this was from the club library.I was the club librarian
back in the early 70's.It was there at that time but if it still exists
I don't know.It was a long time ago and I made copys,but cant find them.
I had a 1929 hudson standard sedan with wire wheels and dual side mounts that was origanly owned by a school teacher.I was going to have this recast
for that car,but never did.I discussed this ornament with Ken Poynter many years ago and he indicated that he knew of another one.I could be off by a year
but I'm pretty certian it was 1929.I really don't thing a ford trimotor was around in 1919.I'm sure some body out there can come up with some acurate info.

the tri-motor first flew in 1926 and was produced until 1933. regards, tom

There was one of these for sale a few years ago on eBay, and it went fairly high as I recall. I do not remember if it was the tri-motor or The Spirit of St. Louis one with the single engine. The one on eBay was in very nice condition and had the Hudson logo. If you have the book by Walter Harris on H-E-T Mascots and Hood Ornaments, you will see pictures of The Spirit of St. Louis version which he states was issued in 1928, the year following Lindbergh's flight. The pictures show that the ornament was available as well with the Essex logo.

I recall that "The White Triangle News " showed the Essex version also.
I will give another look today for the copys I made.

Well it seems I cant load the picture from this site,but it shows
a realy nice one mounted to cap.Says its from 1928 and is the spirit of
St. Louis.Also made with Essex emblem.
