Original 37 Terraplane for sale on Hemmings

    Hi

I'm Alan, the British guy who bought Duke Marley's almost-perfect and almost-all-original 1937 Terraplane a few years back. I haven't posted for ages, not for any better reason than pressure of work (I run a restoration shop and a storage business, and it is 18 hours a day if I am lucky!).

Anyway, I am on vacation in France at the moment, and so have a little more time than usual to do what I like doing best (looking for Terraplanes for sale!), and I just found this on Hemmings:

    http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/hudson/terraplane/1250633.html

Apart from the fact that it is almost as good as the car that I bought off Duke (look at that INTERIOR!!!!), it is silly-cheap! It is only just over half what I paid Duke, and that was 5 years ago. There is a 35 4-door in much less nice condition also on Hemmings for $40000!!

Anyway, the point of the post is - please, please can someone buy it and tlc it? If it is even left outside for a day or two the door cards will be ruined, and it is currently in the hands of a loan company, who presumably only need to get $8000 out of it - so why would they care about keeping it nice?

But it is an INCREDIBLE time-warp (like my car), and someone MUST buy it and give it the care it needs. Please...

I'd have bought it myself, but my circumstances (wife, large collection of other cars) prevent me doing so. But I would hate to see it go to waste...

    Cheers

    Alan

Thanks - I really appreciate that! I thought that was where I had posted it, so you can tell how long it is since I was on the forum!

    Cheers and thanks again

I found that one about a month ago. I'm looking for a '36, but I really considered a 37 after seeing that one!

What's wrong with the rear bumper where it attaches to the body? If that's not too hard to fix, it may be worth the wife divorcing me if I buy another old car.

The car is for sale by a loan company, pledged as collateral on a bad debt. In fact, I've heard that it MIGHT go up for auction soon. So stay tuned...this could end up being an even bigger bargain than it already is.

I can't believe no-one has snapped it up! I only wish I either lived over there or were single.

I don't think the rear bumper bracket is a big deal - I guess it has had a minor impact there which moved or broke the bracket, and the bracket broke through the bodywork where it spreads out. I'd buy the car just for the interior!

    Cheers
