Hi guys. I have a NOS steering wheel for a Stepdown. I asked the forum what it fits -- replies below. Looks like '51 S6 and Pacemaker. May also fit Hornet. Not sure if it will fit other years, so here are the dimensions: it's 18" across, has a 3 1/2" center button, and the splined hole for the steering column is 3/4" across (as near as my old eyes can tell).

    Best offer.
    Geoff.

I think it was also used on a Pacemeker.

I think this would have been the standard wheel for the '50 Pacemaker DeLuxe, & Super Series. Also would have been used in same models of 1951. 1952 Pacemaker & 1953 Wasp.

The steering wheel itself looks like the one in my '50 Pacemaker Deluxe but the horn button is different.

I think the standard '50 Pacemaker had a two spoke steering wheel.

This is identical to the one in my 51 Pacemaker, including the red horn button.

I've had a couple of people poke about so I thought I would list it for sale. I no longer have a stepdown, so happy to find a new and happy home for this item. Reply sender if interested.

I have that exact steering wheel, different horn button, on my 1950 Pacemaker Deluxe. I purchased a nice crackless one on eBay a few years ago. Paid about $150.00 for it. I also purchased the Snap-On vintage steering wheel puller off eBay to remove the old wheel.

Well, I don't want to get too personal ... :)

Truth is, when I bought it, I paid about $600 for it. I moaned to the seller, and he said it was about standard for a good, original steering wheel. Did that make me feel better? No. But there it was.

I put this one on eBay and sold it for nearly what I paid for it, a little less, and minus the eBay and Paypal commissions (so substantially less :P)

You can hold out and hope for a decent wheel for a hundred bucks, but you may never get it. I think the repro wheels go for 900 or so. Yikes!!! May be wrong on that, but that's what I heard.

You pay for what you get. Decent anything costs decent bucks. I'll throw you a cracked black/painted green steering wheel for free if you pay the shipping. But if you want something nearly perfect, you'll have to pay to be assured of the quality.

    Bummer, eh?

Let me know if you want the black/painted green cracked steering wheel, and I'll figure out the cost. Even free, it's not worth it if you want to do the job right.

    Cheers.
    Geoff.

1951 Pacemaker for sure, same as on my Pacemaker. I also Have a NOS wheel in my basement. May have to use it sometime. The one on my car is still in one piece but getting more cracks every year, and mine is kept inside a garage.
