1983 1/2 Dodge Shelby Charger Question

    Hi everyone,

New here, this is a great forum ! I hope someone here can help with a question I have.

My husband is fixing up (not much really to do on it) his 1983 1/2 Dodge Shelby Charger, he wants to sell it soon, as well as his Mustang Convertible, after that. But anyway, the only thing that needs to be done with the Shelby is the headliner inside needs to be glued on better.

The car wasn't driven much, and it has been sitting in a big barn type shed, and the headliner inside is sagging down. He has gotten to where he can get to the underside now, but whats the best thing to use to clean any residue off of it. And any suggestions on the best type of glue to use so it will stay up there.

Its very very low mileage, just tuned up, inspected and the registration is current. The only problem is the headliner, and he's a perfectionist, so he won't try and sell it until the headliner is perfect.

    Thanks for the help,

    Linda

Reglue does not normally work. Uknown why. New material is normally the cure. I have them done at an upholstery shop. they know what they are doing.

    Thanks dbldcb,

Can you give me an idea what they charge for something like that ?? Since the car won't be a huge money maker, I don't think alot of money should be put into it for resale.

    Appreciate it,

db is right, although I have seen the material re-glued back up. The probelm is is that it will look terrible because as the headliner seperates from the backing, which is a foam, it will take some of the foam with it and you will never get it smooth again until you replace the backing.
