Question on stepdown carpet fitting
-
Need help here. I ordered a carpet kit from Kanter for my 54 Special sedan. For the rear floor it does not fit properly. Specifically, going from front to back it does not go up the stepdown high enough. Kanter is telling me that the the factory carpets did not go up the stepdown edge, that that vertical area was covered with vinyl, not carpet, and the carpet covered only the flat portion of the floor in the rear. Is this correct?
I am having the carpet professionaly installed so I didn't screw it up. lol

Kanter better get with the program. In 1954 Hudson devised some curved pieces in metal that was installed along the vertical edge and made the carpet pieces more or less roll up the vertical edge and actually attached under the sill plates - the sales pitch was it would allow you to sweep out the dirt easier than in the past. I remember, this was a big big thing in the original sales presentation of the '54 models in Detroit

Jerry, just to clarify, the fitting issue was not going from door to door but from front to back. Russmaas clarified the issue for me. Thanks alot to both of you.
