-
No reserve, out of Menomonie, WI

OOOOOOhhhhh, Man!
This one would be a labor of love for sure. What potential!:cheer: What a lot of work.
I hope someone grabs it up, takes lots of "before, during, and after" pictures, performs the "many written checks" surgery on this baby and post the results on this forum. I think I may be gitting just a little old for this one...slim -
Looks like an easy restoration compared to this one.

Looks pretty good, to me. Like Paul said, the top irons are there. That's a huge plus. Additionally, the stainless trim and the back seat are there, another plus.

Superdave-if this does NOT have a rusty frame,I think he would have spelled it out. I think the rusted away air cleaner in the trunk sez alot, nice looking radio too!
-
I asked about rot where the rear srings attach. He said that is Ok, trunk floor is OK, but there is some frame rot up front.. ? Also a rear spring is bad. This is a rotisere and mig welder restoration. I might give it a try. IF THE CANCER DOESN'T GET ME FIRST!! lol:whistle:Clutch guy wrote:Superdave-if this does NOT have a rusty frame,I think he would have spelled it out. GO FOR IT DAVE AND GOOD LUCK
-
The convertible in "Still out there" attachment is it available for parts? Maybe this is an old picture from years back, somewhere up in the northeast? I thought I saw this picture somewhere before. I was interested in the cowl with the windshield header since my 52 header is crunched! Any help would be appreciated. Bill
-
Go for it, Dave! If I can be of any help, let me know. If my convertible were done, I might look into this one, myself.
. . . I didn't look at the ad closely, what model is this, a Super? I noticed the crank up windows . . . -
I have no idea where the numbers of production come from..Outa the sky I think... I wonder if the sellers think they are going to get more bids? People that buy these things are , for the most part, educated in the world of Hudson..Others just don't bid because they want a Buick or ford etc...
Thank goodness someone out bid me. I don't think that I need to take on a long and dificult restoration considering my age and health.. Dang it....So if who ever is bidding is on the forum... Good luck... And thanks for the words of encouragement from you guys..:cheer: -
GO FOR IT DAVE
-
He has to be somewhat of a Hudson fan as witnessed by the collection of trucks in the background.

Well the high bidder backed out, so i am now at the top of the list..again... Can't decide if I want to do this or not.. After some emails between the seller(not the owner).. It would be easier to use the convertible pieces on a more solid car. So I have a 1500 mile haul to pay for, plus buy a donar car to use as a platform. The price of poker is getting higher and higher. Do-able,, Just need the guts.. LOL:P

If you decide to go get it yourself, I'll volunteer my trailer. It's already hauled 2 Pacemakers from the midwest to Florida so it knows how it's done...Chris Reinman

Hey Chris!...I have a trailer and the motorhome to tow it.Both have been to Pontiac with my "Superdore" on it..How about you pay the gas?? LOL -
Dave-
It seems that's the way it mostly works out with the 'verts these days. If you can get a good enough deal on the initial convertible, it usually takes a more solid donor to complete the major parts. Oftentimes, several other parts cars are required for all of the little things.
My convertible project has been an extreme one, granted, but it took two mostly complete convertibles to make one good one out of it. Additionally, I'm sure I have gotten more than 100 parts from various parts cars from coast to coast in this country, and a few from three other countries.
Cannot stress one so inclined to have diligence and patience beyond reason when dealing with an incomplete Hudson convertible. Unless you are one of the lucky few who have thousands of spare parts on hand, it takes lots of networking, making new contacts, following the slimmest of leads, etc. to scour for authenticity, if that is your aim.
Realistically, I won't be doing another "basket-case", and this PM looks like a fairly solid candidate (without having seen the underside), all things considered. Much better than my undertaking, anyway.
Is it going to be expensive? Probably, but that's relative to how perfect you want the finished product, like always. Be an overly-O.C.D.-minded, silly perfectionist like me, and it can get out of hand quickly. Keep a cool head, have patience and establish your level of perfection ahead of time, it will not only be pleasant, affordable, and very do-able, but the end result is like nothing else in the world, Hudson-based, anyway.
My offer still stands, if I can be of any service, please let me know. Hope you decide to go for it!! -
Looks like someone withdrew a bid - it is down to two bids.SuperDave wrote:...Thank goodness someone out bid me. Looked a the reason posted for the withdrawal, but it does not follow the timeline or 'flow' with the postings - -
The seller sent me a pic of the vin plate. The floor in front was in the view.. Or I should say the LACK of floor. Even the hinges are deeply pitted. This car has terminal cancer and would only be a fair parts source. I noticed that the "well" that should have a hydraulic pump in it.. doesn't. This looks like a junk yard car that has had a lot of parts stripped from it and the junk parts thrown back in the pile. The more I see, the less l like it.. Glad I haven't bid any more..but being an honerable person, will honor my commitment.
Regardless of it's condition.. it's a Hudson and needs to be preserved.. It casts a shadow !!! -

Our 52 was also a "Junk Yard" car. It took me 3 convertible parts cars to come up with all of the parts that had been removed while it was in junk yard. (That was 10 years ago, when there were still a few parts cars left.)

Actually, ours was a rust free desert car that was totaled because the interior was completely burned out of it in fire that was caused by short at top motor. (In 1964, who wanted a 12 year old Hudson with no interior?) Parts were sold off of it because the car was considered junk.
