262 oil leak

Follow up to previous post. New rear main seal from Dale Cooper installed, but leak persists. Possibly leak is from welsh plug behind cam shaft. 1950 262 in Jethroe (46 pickup truck) (is tight fit around pitman arm) so would it be easier to pull tranny? Also could anyone post picture of rear of 262 so I know what and where I'm dealing with. Could anyone give me diameter and availability of welsh plug? Thanks for you continued assistance.

I don't know how you replaced your rear main seal, possibly before engine installed, but I had to take the transmission out of my 308 Hornet to replace seal. Also I bought the new neopreme seal which was real easy to put in, didn't have to use Walt's method to cut and form seal, just put in because it was the right size, etc. The other thing the verticle rope or wood seal on the sides of the bearing cap might be leaking, this has to be real tight. So far I have no leaks, but for you to do anything to the rear, the tranny or engine has to come out, a real tedious job and not fun!

If you just reinstalled another new neoprene Seal from D Cooper its very unlikely the seal dripping. Additionally, ive never seen the soft plug at the rear of block leak,(not saying its impossible). I would have to agree with edddy that its probably coming from the main cap not sufficiently packed before I would remove the trans.....
