I think the label beside your number of posts changes automatically, when you reach the next plateau in number of posts. I'm Platinum, and never did anything to get it, other than shoot my mouth off.

No, wait! Hold the phone! There IS another way. Just PM me your VISA number and banking information, and I'll get you upgraded in a jiffy!

WOW!!! Not sure what I said but it must have made someone mad. My Karma went from plus 1 to negative 4 in less than 24 hours. So much for winning any popularity contest....

Back in June I responded to a negative post on Ogden Chrome Plating and my Karma went South. Since then I have been a negative four. What gives with this stuff? Because someone did not like my opinion I get blackballed? Do I remain a negative four for the rest of my life?

OK, I have had enough of this back-stabing Karma crap and the small minded folks who use this to degrade those who are trying to contribute and participate with to the knowledge and experience here on the Forum. I am back at a "-2" on my way to what ever level some simpleton wants for me. I am signing off the Forum. Goodby to all my friends...

The earth has shaken at the thought of your leaving us & you are now at a well deserved +6 (as of now)
I don't know how much the "karma scale" adds to the discussion anyhow!!

My "Karma" as I write this is MINUS TWENTY TWO.

Will I change anything at all about what I write in the posts? Absolutely not. Do I care how this totally subjective karma system works? NOT IN THE LEAST.

Do I think my posts are just as valuable contributions to the discussions as anyone else's posts? YOU BETCHA.

If anyone can find an answer somewhere in ClassicCar.com to how the karma thing works, or can get an answer from a moderator or administrator, it would be interesting to read but I don't believe in the whole karma concept anyhow and honestly, I DON'T CARE how I'm rated. I am interested in ACTION, not REACTION.

In answer to StillOutThere, the karma thing is just clicking on either the + or the - beside someone's karma points, and it either adds or subtracts a point. I clicked on your +, so you're now at a -21 and climbing.

And to Brownie- I agree, its a bunch of foolishness. I suppose the point of it was to make people think twice about posting objectionable stuff, to avoid getting negative points. But as your situation shows, it becomes not a matter of objectionable material, but simply saying something that someone doesn't agree with, no matter how nicely put. That's just not right- folks should be entitled to their opinions without getting flamed, so long as they advance them in a civilized way, and I've never seen anything out of line in your posts.

To the administrators- can't you just get rid of the karma thing, to keep peace around here?

My 'karma' has gone up and down like a yo-yo... I tend to ignore it (or try to). Truthfully, I wouldn't mind it going away either.

I see nothing has happened reference my request to do away with Karma altogether, but since this little kerfluffle started, StillOutThere has zoomed up from -22 to -13, Brownie is surging with a 10, and I've even picked up a couple of points.

"It is as it should be". The sun is in the heavens, and all is right with the world. Well, except maybe the Dow, the debt, Congress, and a few other things.

never noticed it 'til all this b.s. started!
I can't imagine why anyone cares either, I certainly don't.
I'll mention something positive & uplifting to me, maybe my "karma rating" will rise: it's hotter in Okla. City today than it is in Phoenix, YEAH!!!!!!!!! LOL
