Now what do I do with it???
-
Hey All. Look what I bought off craigslist yesterday for $700..14000 miles, 427 Hi deck motor 5 speed, 2 speed rearend, everything works..Now what do I do with it?
-
I think I would donate it to a volunteer fire department, which I am sure they would appreciate. Then claim it as a charitable deduction on my taxes!
Or is there something wrong with it, like a blown motor, bad pump, that would make it unusable? If not I would donate it.

Purrs like a kitten..wish I was financially able to donate it,but only bought (stole) it because I could not pass it at what I got it for..cmon a 427 Hi Deck motor with 14,000 miles on it ??

You could probably get your money back by taking fire apparatus apart and scrap it piece by piece. I helped take 2 apart and some of the brass hardware will pay ya good money. Cast iron brings good money. When all of the fire stuff is gone, ya have a good candidate for a car hauler and it didn't cost ya anything. Fire trucks like these don't sell for much money, but are sleepers. Muncipalities typically take good care of equipment. There are also brokers that will sell it overseas for good money, provided there isn't any crack plumbing from freezing. My opinion, you got a bargain and will have a marketable truck with the fire body gone. No way to not make money on it.

You can flip this for some serious profit. While piecing out is probably your best bet, you'll get a good chunk from just selling it straight-up.http://www.licauto.com/used-cars.aspx

:cheer: Nice aqquisition. I am a volunteer firefighter myself and I must say, that with some work, this will be a prize winning piece. Maybe when you are done with it, enter it into your local parade and try to aqquire some trophies. A truck like that in my town's parade, would take home a few trophies. Very nice indeed. That thing will come in handy if you ever have a garage fire or a brush fire that gets out of control haha. Good luck.
