    A note to me ---
Looking for Heads for 1936 212, TERRARPLANE, I was told they made 5-differant head in 36, up to 100 HP, what do you have, or does any one have?
OK, what heads were actually offered in 36?

If there were more than one type of head (compression ratio) offered, then I assume that one would ask in the plural (heads- meaning hudson offered more than one head)
    Being as Hudson didn't make a V-8 in 36, I don't think it (2 heads on a V8) would apply here.

Here is your answer from the 1936 Hudson motor manual.
The Hudson six (6) model 63 came with a Carter down draft #329s, the same as the 62 model. Standard head was 6.25-1 compression, while the optional head was 7.0-1. Here again, using this head requires High Octana fuel. Walt.

I'd recommend putting on a later '38-on Hudson 112 head as they have a much smaller chamber than the '36 heads. They have the same stud pattern, water outlet etc. If you search this forum I have a couple of threads with all details. Search for "Terraplane high compression head".

That way you get around 7.2:1 - 7.3:1 compression, depending on your bore size, head thickness etc, etc. Make sure you use the right plugs with 1/2" reach, I have detailed this too in my posts. I recommend doing a cc check of the unswept volume to calculate the CR plus a head to valve clearance check. The difference in performance is very obvious. The horsepower was 88hp and 100hp between the standard 6.25:1 compression and the optional 7.0:1 compression. Maybe 102hp with the 112 head.

I found the car is fine on 91 RON octane which in New Zealand is the regular fuel (high grade here is either 95 or 98 RON octane). I think in the US the NZ 91 RON equates to your 87 or thereabouts. It'll climb very steep long hills almost as well as my Terraplane Eight and that is saying something.
