Hi Everyone, I have a 1949 Super Six and would like to get some recommendtions on engine rebuilders in the Baltimore, Md. area. I don't think the engine has ever been out of the car. I have got the car in pretty good shape but am reluctant to take on a long croos country trip without an engine rebuild.

Your thoughts a good rebuilder please?

I don't know if you're aware of it, but we have a chapter of the H-E-T Club in your area, the Chesapeake Bay Chapter. Here's our website: http://cbc.hudsonclub.org/ . You're welcome to attend our meets, even if you don't end up joining! (We just had a mid-winter tech session out in Inwood, WV a couple weeks ago, with our neighboring chapter the Tri-State Mountain Roads Chapter.)

The "roster" referred to, is the book you get when you join the H-E-T, with names and addresses of all the members. Paul's number is (304) 856-2042. Capon Bridge is west of Winchester, Va., not that far from Baltimore.

Was your car parked at a service station in Ellicott City last October? I was visiting a fellow Hudson chapter member who lives there and we drove over to lunch (in my Terraplane) and saw a '48-9 Hudson in the gas station across the street. I took a photo of it and it appeared in our local newsletter.

Jon, yes, that was my Hudson. I have had the car about three years and have rebuilt most of the mechanicals on the car. Thanks for clarifying what the register is. I am a HET member and I know where my folder from the club is. The Chesapeake Bay Chapter looks interesting. I have bookmarked it and will follow up on some of the spring events you have coming up.

Hi Jack---There is an excellant machine shop in Baltimore who can still do the necessary machining for these old engines, but because of my recent move, I can not come up with the name or address for it. Since you are a member of H E T check your roster for Lew Mendenhall, contact him for more information on this machine shop. Both he & myself have successfully used this shop in the past. Good luck. That wouldn't be Rodney's in Jarrettsville would it, Cliff? I recall that Pete Sanders used to recommend them. (410) 557-7272. But they only do machine shop work, not engine assembly, of course...
