What is a good source for tie rod ends for a '54 Hornet
(Hollywood)? Trying Napa, Moog and Thompson. J.C. Whitney lists at $144.00 each! Thanks, Walt-LA -
Rareparts.com in Stockton CA has them at $90.00 and $93.00 each

Some Chryslers and Fords of the period used the same tie rod end. Don't know if those varieties are cheaper than the Hudson item.

I think 40-48 Ford pass is the same. Tomorrow I will check the Moog and Thompson catalog and post the. numbers.

Try NAPA 269-241 and 269-240. Also Moog 4004 , EIS 147.

My listings show the following for 48-54 Hudson:
1948 – 1954 Tie Rod Ends
Moog: ES 416 L&R
ES 64 L&R (old #)
Thompson: ES 147 L&R
McQuay-Norris: Same as Thompson
NAPA: 269-2241 (R)
269-2240 (L) I may have an extra 2 in here.

NAPA here has the 269-2240(L) and 269-2241(R)tie rod ends, and though they don't identify them as fitting Hudsons, they do fit a number of cars of the stepdown era, including Ford. I'll take L & R threaded ends down to them that came fom a '52 Hornet, one of which bears an H with a triangle and hexagon stamped on the bottom. I understand this is original equipment, so should be good for comparison. Will post results. Price quoted as $42.xx per.

I contacted Rockauto.com and although they didn't list them under Hudson, they have the Moogs at least under their Part Number Search at $33 and $38 respectively. They ship next day. Service and parts are great.
They list a lot of parts for Hudson at great prices.
I first got a tailgate latch from them, a Dorman part. Local Toyota dealer quoted $87. They sent me one for $38 plus about $4 for shipping.
