Need Scuff Plates for a 29 Model R
-
All,
Need help locating a rear set or maybe just 1. Also if there are other years that will fit, like a 27-3x. If there is a full set of front and backs available please let me know also. Any info is usefull and appreciated. I do not have any backs so having them made is a bit hard without an example.
Thanks in advace,
Jack -
I thought Rod Hudson was reproducing them? At least, that's what I've listed on my Hudson repro psrts list http://www.detailedconcepts.net/Repro_Table.pdf Scroll down to "Interior and Exterior Trim & Brightwork".
You ARE looking for the sill plates at the bottom of the rear door openings, right?
If he's stopped making these please let me know so I can remove them from the list! -
Hi Jon,
When I talked to him (in NJ)he didn't have any for the 29's so to have him make a set I would have to supply 1 as a template. Missing both I'm up the creek. I was hoping that the rear sills were common across a few years making a better chance on getting a set or one for a template.

JOn,
On second look your guy is different that the one I talked to in New Jersy. I had orginally started with KGap and balked at a 9 month lead time. Dany gave me the "best" source he had which turned out to be unable to produce the ones for the 29 sedan.
I just emailed Rod and will update on his capabilities.
Thanks again, Jon

Hi Jack
I ordered a set of sill plates for my 47 Hudson PU from Dany. I didn't balk at the 9 month lead time he told me it would take. I didn't bother him with phone calls during this time period, and when they came in Dany gave me a call to let me know they had arrived. The wait was worth it. They were a beautiful work of art. The detail was beyond my expectation. For me the quality was worth the wait.
I wish you success locating a set you will be happy with.

Theres a company in Australia called Vintage and classic reproduction Parts, does stuff for all sorts of cars and and years, as you know us down under have to be inventive :woohoo: I brought some kick plates which I believe are 29 from them, they are sand cast but with a bit of work they came up great, the 1s I got are heavily detailed with the Essex badge at the top and have a frame to to sit matting into which I think he sells as well and all this bolts to the running boards if that's the sort you are looking for

All,
To clarify what I need, here's a pic of 2 AMC sill scuff plates I'm looking at in the interum. I need the rear plates for my 29 Model R. Now if the 29 uses a flat sill plate like these then I'll improvise.

Jon,
Sent an email and it was returned as "no such customer" so either he's changed his provider or dropped off as a supplier.
If you have another contact method I'd be happy to try that. Thanks
Jack -
Hi Lee,
I called and talked to the Kgap sill supplier in NJ but was not able to order a set since he did not have a template to make them from. I don't have either rear so I was unable to provide a template either, hence my request for help.
I've heard he does great work and 9 months hurts but you do what is necessary. I would not deal through KGap however any longer.
Thanks
Jack -
The pics that you posted look nothing like what you need. I will have a look threw my stuff this weekend and see what I have.

Thanks Paul! Really appreciate your effort!

Thank you for advising me that one of the vendors on my list may have moved. I'll check it out immediately!
