    How do I attach pictures?

    Just click on "add file" at the bottom, and do what it says. At some point, you have the choice to "Browse"- that's what you want to do- it should take you to your pictures, and you can select from there. I don't remember all the steps exactly, but I figured it out, so ANYBODY can.

    $600 car, eh? I'll bet "it's a shame to call it used", as my old neighbor used to say :lol:

    I bought it for the OD trans, but I might see if I can get it running as it isn't too bad of a car. I bought it from the original owner (92 yrs. old). Was last on the road in 1970. It's rock solid and the owner claimed the milage was acurate (37000).

    Unless it is rusted away underbody it looks like a good candidate for a project car.

    Interesting development.....while going thru some of the boxes of extra parts I found one with a little surprise.......A very old muzzle loading double barrel shotgun. It was neatly wrapped up and in fairly nice condition. Not sure of its value if any, but still cool.

    It appears this Hudson was a lucky find by looking at areas that usually tend to rust externally, I would bet the underneath is fine and too good a car to make a parts car...

    Better get rid of that gun fast, maybe the old boy was gangster back back when the Hudson was new.

    Don't toss the shotgun - if it's in good condition you should have it appraised by someone with knowledge of the beast. Don't even clean it up - leave it as is.

    You may have an item that will, at the very least, get you the money you paid for the car - but probably much more. And don't even get the bright idea to try firing it until you've (or someone) checks out the barrel - it may be what they call "damascus" or "London" twist. The material for the barrel was wrapped around a mandrel. It was fine for the day, but if you overloaded it you could seriously injure yourself if the barrel starts to unwind - and they will do it. My grand-dad had an old double barrel damascus twist shotgun, not a muzzle loader. No way could you fire modern loads in that thing.

    Left a message with seller but no response. He made it clear I needed to take everything that was in the car.......exercise bike, bag of old shoes, lamp, crutches, curtains, and tons of other junk that I can't identify. We'll see if responds.

    How about a photo of the interior. Just finished redoing one of these in the brown and cream colors. The interior, I think, is the "Wasp" style interior and not the Hornet style?

    Changed fluids and hoses today. Hooked up a can of gas since I'm sure the tank is crud, and tried to start it today. Fired on first try. Purrs like kittenB)
    The clutch is not operating though. It was getting close to trick or treat time so I gave up for the night.
    I will get more pictures posted on my next day off. Any suggestions on the clutch without puling it apart?

    Awesome! I love when they fire up on the first try. I got my 65 Chevy going with nothing more than a carb cleaning and tracing a loose wire.

    It is not unexpected to have the clutch stuck after long storage. Once you have the motor in useable condition . Warm the motor up then shut it off .Put car in first gear push in clutch and start engine. Obviously do this in an area where you can drive the car around a little. Normaly it will break loose right away.

    I will give it a try tomorrow and report back. I need to replace the leaking fuel pump first. There was a new one in the trunk.

    Only took about ten feet before the clutch popped loose. I drove it around the block a few times. runs great. No brakes yet (only mechanical), but maybe tomorrow. So far I have bought a new battery and installed a new fuel pump.

    So lets review. You got a Hudson that's far nicer than the price would suggest, and it started on the first try. Stuck clutch that repaired itself in 10 feet. New fuel pump (and presumably other parts) in the trunk. An antique firearm as well. You haven't found the bags of Double Eagles yet, I presume. :cheer:
